So I've been thinking about item builds for damp, looked up some guides and noticed Harkon isn't all that popular, even though most of your dmg comes from spells. I'd go with Ghost marchers - Hotb - Spellshards - Hellflower - Harkon - Nullstone/Genjuro. I'd go with Hellflower before Harkon, as you need crapload of mana regen, also your forte is nuking oponents 1 on 1 and bonus dmg from hellflower helps with that, also chasing down oponents is easier, should they survive initial dmg burst, if they can't use abilities as almost everyone has some escape/snare/stun these days. Now we are getting into end game and physical armor is stacking up on your on your opponent, good guy Harkon lowers magic armor and keeps your nuking strong and your auto attacks also pack quite a punch being magic dmg now. Yes, your shards cannot lower magic armor below zero, but if you are doing good, enemy is bound to have at least mystic vestment so it should not be an overkill. As for last item it depends whether your team does have another carry/semi carry hero. If not, you should go for nullstone, additional regen and hp pool helps you to stay in fights and wreak havoc. If yes you can take genjuro for additional 1v1 nuking strenght, actually, in this case it might be viable to get genjuro prior to Harkon.
Yes, Harkon is not so hot when dealing with shrunken, but you are a damp, so when dealing with shrunken you are useless anyway.
So, your thoughts about pros and cons of this build? Also let's keep the discussion civilized, so if you are 1350mmr, just take a cookie and nod your head.
1. You need a lot of cash for your build. I don't know if you can get that kind of farm on dampeer while you have a hardcarry on your team. I still think damp is a ganker, not a hardcarry.
2. You are squishy up until the point you get Nullstone. Helm isn't that good for hp late game.
3. Good damage, harkon may work of course, it's insane damage if you have the manaupkeep, which you can only get if you have hellflower/ sheepstick.
4. Genjuro is a nice item of course, it packs quite a punch, but again: over 6k gold to buy. quite expensive.
Hellflower. Silence, perpelex, damage amp, mana regen. What more can you ask?
Harkons would be ok but you would need a hell of a lot of farm to get all the stuff you listed. All those items in a 55 minute game (with no tps, wards, starting items buy backs, deaths etc.) you are talking 438 gpm. Now lets say A. you obviously have to buy tps and regen, B. you die a few times C. the game doesn't last 55 minutes. You will never get all of those items unless you are just **** stomping some pub scrub team.
Now that we have the let's get real out of the way. Harkons on damp in theory is ok. However why would you bother with a harkons when you can go something like demonic (after your hellflower) You attack speed is greatly increased boosting your passive lifesteal and it will help the rest of your team as well.
If i had a 55 minute 500 gpm game like you are suggesting with your build I would go the following. Ghost Marchers-Hellflower (straight for hellflower because now you have the mana regen to flash farm and a disable is never a bad thing)-Sols-Frostburn (slow, movespeed increase, +auto attack damage, IE everything a ganker needs to remain viable)-Demonic-Wingbow (throw in a shrunken head if needed depending on enemy line up probably after sols or hellflower)
Spellshards is only a good pick up on dampeer if one of two things are the case. 1. you are the closest thing to a carry your team has and you have to end the game before 30 mins or you lose anyway (IE quick bursty snowball and push) B. you are solely a ganker and have a hardcarry that the team can rely on late game. Note, even in situation B it's still not that useful. 4600 gold is much better spent on a shrunken or hellflower.

Personally I'm not a fan of harkons on a melee hero and then deffinitely not on a melee agi hero, I'm not saying it's uber bad though.
The thing is with ur small mana pool and use of ur skills you'll run out of mana so quickly with the harkons, try it in practice mode.
I think personally that Nullstone should be a core item on dampeer, the survivability it gives is insane, while Hotbl is great for early usually.
To maintain the early survivability I would go: Powersupply and gravelocket and then nullstone, after that either hellflower or shrunken.
Isn't Harkon's Blade just an item you get in those niche situations where you need to circumvent armour and don't have to deal with magic immunity (or where circumventing armour is more important than dealing with magic immunity)?
So, there probably are situations where Harkon's Dampeer is good, or even where Harkon's is the best item pickup. But that could be said for any hero dependent on auto attacks. More to the point though, I'm not sure there are many heroes who would pick up Harkon's as a core part of their build, and I would think that Dampeer is certainly not among them.
I prefer a frostwolfskull as attack modifier, I've tried harkons before but your team needs slows or it won't work out
In theory it makes sense but Dampeer doesn't do a lot of autoattacking so in order to lock them down you'd have to get something like a brutaliser and more attackspeed so in practise it probably isn't the best item to pick up. Late game the best thing you can do as dampeer is pick off the supports and stay near your carry to provide them with the OP lifesteal aura.
Harkon's is worth a shot, its still a very powerful attack modifier.
