That being said, Chris Bosh could not have had a more timely return, and who would have that he'd play like that coming off an injury? Guy played 200% better vs the Celtics than he did in the past.
chris bosh is the best player on the heat in terms of actual skill. dwade and LBJ are monsters physically, but look at their atrocious shooting from the outside. better then when they were rookies, yes. but still. they rely on their speed and strength to score, not precise passing or footwork or shooting.

This is simply untrue. LeBron is a better defender and passer than Bosh as well as a better overall scorer. Bosh may be the better jump shooter and I will give him the nod in rebounds but that is about all he does over James. I believe there is close to a consensus (at least among the analysts and reporters) that LeBron James is the greatest talent currently in the NBA.

Too bad he doesn't have heart and isn't clutch.

lebron is a better defender because hes 6'8 and is as fast as the fastest point guards. granted he is a better passer, but he is pretty much the point guard of the team, since dwade is a scorer and mario chalmers is a joke.

he doesnt make any tough plays, he doesnt really even make big plays normally. you dont see him threading passes on a needle between defenders. he doesnt handle the ball particularly well, hes just so damn fast he runs right by most defenders.

if you taught the gronk (the TE from the pats) how to dribble, youd have roughly the same player LBJ is now.

I remember Stephen A. Smith talking about the same thing when he was contrasting Kevin Garnett having heart and Lebron James just being a physical freak of nature talent but with no heart.

Searching for a video of when he said that, I found this other interesting clip.

It's funny how they wrote off the Heat and then jumped back on the bandwagon after they won game 6.

stephen a smith is a moron who only gets air time because hes a clown.

in all honesty LBJ probably will win a championship at some point. all it takes is one injury to KD and they become the best team in the league.

the celtics are pretty much done, indiana still needs a true allstar, the spurs will still be strong, but they are just getting older and older. kobe and the lakers will be kobe and the lakers, but until andrew bynum stars playing like a real man they wont win anything.

the bulls can compete, but they need better support for drose before they can take the next step.

so the the heat and the thunder are the 2 best teams in the league by far. all LBJ and crew need is for KD/westbrook to go down and they instantly become the favorites.

If Stephen A. Smith is a clown what do you think Skip Bayless is?

    an angry clown.

remember, the guys on TV dont care about offering a good in depth assessment of anything, they care about viewers, being a clown gets you viewers.

if you want good information, some of the writers on NBA.com are actually pretty good. and they dont have gimmicks like being an angry black man. granted, its still for entertainment, but they are much more selective of how and what information they present.

The Lakers are getting broken up this off season. Memphis is still the new "Bad Boys" Pistons in the West and the Clippers, if healthy, are a strong team. Dallas and San Antonio are both aging horribly but San Antonio still plays at a high enough level to make a push each year. There are a plethora of teams in the West that only need a superstar to be legit playoff contenders such as Denver, Houston, Phoenix (if Steve Nash stays) and even Golden State.

The East is far weaker overall as the Celtics will be broken up this off season, teams like Indiana and Atlanta have star players but cannot win games, and the top 3 teams cannot stay healthy (Miami, Chicago, and New York). While teams like Miami and Chicago can run with any in the West, the rest of the East is very weak.

Lebron not being clutch just simply isn't true. People smite him for his failures, and don't go beyond there. As for "heart", I don't even know what this means anymore, but if Lebron going into the game 6 Halftime interview saying "I'm playing 48 minutes" isn't having heart then I don't know what is.

Nobody talks about that huge three pointer Lebron James hit when down 3 to force game 4 into overtime, nobody talks about this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX7xdo_NzKw where he dismantled the Celtics single-handedly in the final stretch of the game to win game 5 last year. Nobody talks about how Lebron, statistically, is the best clutch player since 2000, and how statistically, Kobe Bryant is one of the worst (yet seems to always be praised for having the "clutch gene")
    http://www.libertyballers.com/2012/2...fs-4th-quarter
Their definition of clutch: "In the NBA, the term ‘clutch', is defined as "the plays that occur during the 4th quarter or overtime, with less than five minutes remaining, and neither team ahead by more than five points". But the public perception of clutch goes beyond that." I know clutch is loosely defined, some go as far as "Only the last 24 seconds, or only game winning shot opportunities", but you can't tell me a three point shot, with your team down four points, 1:43 left to go in the game isn't clutch.

According to Stephen A. Smith, heart is what makes Kevin Garnett not forget his losses, even a year later. Heart is what makes him not sleep well at night. Lebron on the other hand quickly gets over his losses in a few days as if it doesn't hurt him. He doesn't lose sleep over not winning a championship. He doesn't do pushups during a game.

Also, I believe it was last year, but what about Lebron in that 4th quarter game where he completely disappeared? He's a scrub.

  14. #34
I don't think Lebron isn't capable of being clutch, but he clearly hates being in that position and will actively avoid the responsibility. He just seems to care way too much about how he's perceived by fans and the media, which is a huge weakness and a good reason to suggest that he lacks heart.

In terms of coach challenges, I specifically mentioned a penalty for abuse or being incorrect. You could even take it further and have the opposing team take FT and retain possession if the challenge is wrong. I just think there has to be some kind of protection against egregious calls that change the game. At the very least refs need to be held to some accountability, especially in the playoffs or finals.

Pacers maybe better than NY, maybe. If it came down to a last few minute scenario then I would give the edge to the Knicks as they have a grade A finisher in Carmelo. Also note that the entire Knicks team (post Lin-sanity) was not healthy altogether at once, but I believe a lot of people underestimate their talent.

There is no way Orlando is a top 3 team in the East anymore. After losing Van Gundy and their current state of affairs with Dwight Howard... It is just a downhill slope. The chemistry is off with their players and they have never had a good supporting cast around Howard. They were good when the superstars were split in the East, but now with "Big 3's" everywhere they are no longer one of the elite in the East. I would say the Knicks are far better than the Magic in the current state.

Atlanta is similar to Orlando. They are going through a rough patch and cannot seem to get things together. Their stars are under performing and it is hurting them badly. Josh Smith is highly overrated for how poorly he played this season and Al Horford and Joe Johnson did not step up. Getting rid of Jamaal Crawford was also dumb. I again, do not believe they are better than the Knicks because they seem to have lost their "bad-boy" mentality.

Now Philadelphia is a team that looks like it could be making a strong push in the weak East for a number 3 or 4 spot. They are relatively young (just need a strong replacement for Elton Brand once he retires) and have strong scorers in Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams and Jrue Holiday. Also Evan Turner finally showed up for the team during the playoffs so if he continues to improve they will be a potential threat.

Remember, the East has a strong showing with Chicago and Miami and after that there is a significant drop off in the other teams. New York making third is not highly unreasonable given their star talent and overall makeup when healthy.

NY has potential to be great, but i honestly think they need to trade away amare for a real power forward. if they had kevin love or even KG, that team has championship potential written all over it. that is assuming jeremy lin comes back and can still do what he do.

amare's lack of any sort of defense will stop that team from being a juggernaut that they could be.

the clippers are ok, but until blake griffin becomes something other then a dunk machine, they wont be able to beat any other really good teams.

the lakers might get broken up, but any team with kobe bryant will make the playoffs. as long as he keeps playing like kobe atleast.

though josh smith is the best player on the hawks. joe johnson is overrated, tracy mcgrady cant do anything anymore after all his injuries, and al horford needs to stay healthy

Clippers beat the Grizzlies which is saying a lot. The problem with them is that they need to not run their half court offense through Blake Griffin. Or at least not run a post up play through him. He is not that style of player.

Game 1 soon, can't wait for some more Magic Johnson analysis, just fcking ROFL.

I caught this gem just now.

Wilbon: "What do you think this NBA Finals means to both of these teams?"

Magic: "Well I think it means... who Kobe Bryant is passing the torch to."

  20. #40
Yup, I knew Thunder would overcome their slow start and pick it up in the 2nd half. Now it's the 4th quarter, time for them to really pull away and **** on the Heat.
