well you shouldn't be with that ranged carry in the first place.That should be a ranged semisupport/int like pyro.The carry should be bot,or mid.This is because even if your ranged carry can get farm in that lane,magmus can't harass the enemy.All he can do is sit there,probably wait to stun,valk to arrow and to make a possible kill.Mag needs his pkey asap so i guess he SHOULD get a hatchet and lane with a pyro etc.Valk can't harass/ck and deny all in one while magmus does nothing.Pyro can do all while magmus focuses on last-hitting.Originally Posted by Juspion

Let's imagine for example+
, I don't mid Magmus going for the last hits while Valk harasses the enemies. Just don't buy a freaking hatchet on magmus pls, buy some regen and stats so you can stay in the lane longer and use your stun more often.
The same principle applies to every meele laning with a ranged carry (
etc...), their job in the lane is not to afk farm, is to win the lane.

Please stop with the magmus hammer examples, they are the exceptions to the rule. Because all they need to be useful through the entire early game is a level 1+ stun. Most melees aren't like that. Most of them depend on winning lanes by attrition. balpha, jere, morax, zephyr, armadon, kraken, are examples of the typical melee that needs cs for early regen and that's how they dominate the lane.
Take a hero like pesti, he has a great stun and all but if you don't let him get early farm, it's just a terrible waste of a pick. He doesn't farm fast, and he's a complete pushover from midgame when he has no items, but incredibly strong with items. A valkyrie on the other hand, she can do great throughout the game without having good early farm to start with.
Now, obviously it is preferable not to put 2 farm dependent heroes in the same lane, but that's something that just happens in low pubs and you have to deal with it somehow, and "Always give it to the ranged carry" is bad advice.

Push the lane past your tower, use Volley if needed. You're ranged, he can't CS without taking harass. If the pull is available, you're doing the team a favor and both of you will get something.

Max shield first. Will help rune race and keep you alive. Stack minor totems and RotT so he can't burst you from full hp.
