Hey all,
Just a quick general question.
In terms of MMR, when is it possible to solo que and pick a support with confidence your team are worth the effort?
I play support a lot, i love to play support =) My only problem is its no fun when the 4 carries i inevitable get drawn with have no understanding of the game, the only benefit i get form these games is some exp in trash talking and good warding stats. I don't mind the lower KDR support players get trashed for, i make up for it with my items, the items i enable my carry to get, team fight presence and warding.
I play with friends sometimes but trying to organize time/place around work uni is just a pain. Solo is far more convenient
****TL;DR - What MMR (on average) can i expect 4 players to act with competence if i play my support well.****
1600s isn't it yet - 1700s get better as far as my personal experience goes.
No, you can ward, counterward and stack ancients but they'll still fail to carry, their have no idea how to farm nor how to lane, I have seen 1500's carry better than 1700's

Well I suppose that picking another carry with other bad pick-ups won't solve anything. Play the game the way you like.
1500s, they have no idea what they are doing unless you're lucky to have a smurf on your team.
1600s, knowledge of HoN is a little better but bad over all unless you command them to do teamwork. The only way to win here is through your carry not being a rager and listening to you. Lol, then again, it is HoN.
I have no idea what the 1700s are like. When I support we usually win![]()

if you reach 1700 you will still have a 1500 carry in atleast 50% of your games
You need to be at least 1800+ to not be matched up with a 15xx brown/orange who thinks he has to carry. As of now, everyone below 1800 is fated to have someone with at least 150+ mmr below himself in the team.

I wouldnt support until 1800 games, lower games are kinda trash.
Pick a support/ganker so you can impact the early game better. If your teammates suck, chances are that the other team sucks too and isn't knowledgable at countering your ganks. This way, your Kshould also stay above 1:00
im so stuck in the 1300s i was like 2 games away from 1400 once but just got dragged down by fail teamates. i dont like the system now it takes 20 wins(consecutively) to go into the next bracket generally i win 2 i lose one i win 2 and then loose 3 and im back where i started or i'll end the day 1 less then where i started and it just gets frustrating. i wish the MMR system worked on a percentage system where only a certain number of players car be at a certain level so theres a lot more moving around
I play at around 1600 MMR and I play every role. The times I feel like supporting, my favourite pick is by far Aluna, she is such a good all-round hero with good nukes and an awesome stun + escape mechanism. Another perk with playing Aluna is the fact that she can (with just a little bit of farm) be quite the dangerous hero in the lategame as well.
At my rating it's great to support with a hero that can handle herself well throughout the game, regardless of how your carry is performing. Because sometimes you get teamed up with horrible players, which will force you into attempting to get some farm yourself and try to carry. And at some times you will be matched with players that are far better than you, at which point you can just go full-blown hard support and watch your carry get big and dangerous
To answer your question, I don't really know what rating that happens at, but I feel as if it's a bit like playing the roulette. But if you pick a support with decent stand-alone power you can always choose the way of the warder and be helpful in that way, or go down the (at least) semi-carry road and attempt to win the game by yourself![]()
I don't think it's an mmr you should look for. Look at the person's stats under 1800. I have all sorts of smurfs and won't let you down as a carry.
