I was expecting them to bugfix this is the 2.6.4 patch, but yet it's the same as 2.6.3, you can download the client from the website but you can't update the game without it crashing every time you open the .exe file
This is ridiculous...... the new 2.6.4 is the same......game still crashes.....are there any admins/moderators that even read these threads? Seems like they could care less...
Well a couple of days later, still no reply from anyone. Does anyone have a fix yet?
I have the exact same problem, I've been without option of playing HoN for 2-3 weeks now, it is pretty amazing to see how little s2 cares for their playerbase. I am considering giving up HoN and just start playing dota2. I mean, what if I was enrolled in a team and I couldn't play because of this... And they won't even answer. Let's just give up and go play dota, everyone with an Alienware should never log on to HoN ever again. IceFrog and Valve would NEVER let this happen.
It is all nice and dandy that you "fixed" the issue for Alienware nVidia dual-gpu issues, but that doesn't doesn't give me any type of solution. I've got a m17x R2 with a dual ATI Mobility Raedon HD 5870. I'm using CrossfireX to connect the cards together (which is what I have to do). I've been without the option of playing HoN for 2-3 weeks now, and it is certainly not what I payed for. I've tried everything from updating drivers, using one graphic card, updating bios etc... There is no solution easily accessible for (nor for my fellow Alienware compadres with ATI cards).
I am very angry for having payed money for something that doesn't work. I find it highly unprofessional and to be honest, very disappointing.
On top of the problem being long-lasting you only fix half of it once you finally do something?

There is several "Failed to create directory" messages after this (about 10-15)... I have tried everything there is to try now (Several different drivers for my graphic card, several different bios updates, every suggested solution this forum has to offer.... I estimate that I've tried for 7-10 hours with different solutions but I can't get any different result than this.
If I don't get an answer for this in a few days I can assure s2 games that I will not let it slide. I will have my money back unless they fix it. This is a clear violation of the agreement I signed after paying for Heroes of Newerth.

Lol i just updated my alien fx and turned it off. now i can play hon.. makes no freakin' sence at all<3
I have the same Problem, and i think this problem with all dells laptops ??!!
I found the solution if you have an Alienware and you can't start hon after update you can choose to do this:
Go to this site (be sure it fits yours system):
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/...ductCode=False
Choose Program and download the file for Command Center. Follow the instructions for installing it, try installing/repairing it first. If this does not work, choose to uninstall the entire thing.
Once it is uninstalled you can start HoN without problem. Note that it is not a problem to uninstall this as you easily can use the same file to install the Command Center again if you desperatly want it. I have not yet tried to re-install the application to see if HoN works after a re-install, but I will. If this makes HoN impossible to start again, I will comment here again.
ps:
We finally got some kind of solution, and note that it is NOT thanks to s2.
sincerely

After re-installing Command Center HoN is still working (so update of the Command center should work just as good as the uninstall, this is not tested though), but I have a brand new 'Tray alert configuration Error'. I dunno what it is and at the moment I just don't care right now. I guess it is some sort of installation error, but as stated, I won't stray to figure it out at the moment. At least I can play the game I payed for.
Uninstalling Command Center worked for me... :S
How ****ed up is that...? :-/
No, my computer is not an alienware and i am having the EXACT same issues, i get the s2 logo screen, then it makes the little sound effect like the login page is about to come up and right then it crashes, i have updated ALL of my drivers for ALL of my hardware and reset my computer and it did not work, the thing that REALLY pisses me off about this is that yesterday i was playing just fine and uninstalled temporarily and now i cant even ****ing play. S2 FIGURE YOUR **** OUT ****ING NOOBS
