EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH Maybe because it's dota1 with new engine? They start updating once the game is finished? Why would they implement new heroes, when they don't even have the classic d1 heroes all in there? You reasoning is beyond bad, sry.

Also icefrog is working for valve, he designed the hereos as well and now imporing them to the new engine? God so much nonsense in this post =(

OP's post is just what i was thinking a couple of days ago, when i started to lurk & read on the Diablo 3 forums (was a great Diablo series fan myself, but didn't jump on the hype-train for D3; a good thing as i saw later).

The problem with huge gaming companies - like Activision/Blizzard (they merged) had become in the recent years, is that they will eventually be taken over by corporate businessmen in suits, who know how to ballance spreadsheets, downsize and maximize production/profit/income, but have no real idea how to make good games. If you'll take a couple of minutes to read this history of Blizzard since the merger - http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/view...opic_id=128252 - you'll maybe notice that in one part Bobby Kotick (the CEO) admited: "The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games."
It isn't about people making games with love anymore; neither it is allowed for them to have fun with their work or be innovative or feel comfortable doing their job - it's all about producing a shiny product with a shiny name for the least amount of expenses and for the maximum amount of profit. Now how the hell are video game makers supposed to make a good game, if they aren't allowed to pour their love and enthusiasm in to it and even more importantly - to have fun with what they're doing?
Just take a look at "S2 plays every friday" and the recent events for the HoNiversary - i can see from another continent (literally) that S2 Games is having fun with their work and that it's workers are genuinly putting their energy and love in to their product becouse they like it themselves. In other words: when the kitchen chef deems the food he prepared tasty by his own standards, the common people will usually find it very good as well.

Another thing is the need of actual effort for selling the game; small companies NEED to make their games the best they can, either with design, innovation, graphic style or other features; while well-known big companies basicly just need to choose a known game name, add a few new features and graphics along with a cheesy storyline, generate a hype for months (P.R. at it's finest) and then just sit back and watch the product practically sell itself. "A Diablo game from Blizzard? No way this is gonna fail!" *instabuy* By the end of the week, when you've noticed how hard you've been screwed over, it's already too late - your 60€ are already safe on Blizzard's bank account which proves that they've been as sucessful as ever despite actually selling you crap.
Don't get me wrong - i have a strong belief that they'll eventually fix many of the problems and shortcomings currently found in Diablo 3, but the initial taste in the mouth is very sour even for just a fan of the Diablo franchise like myself, who hasn't even bought and played Diablo 3 yet. It's like all the good movies and TV series which have been destroyed by Hollywood's quest for profit (Batman and Heroes come to mind here); they degraded a good idea/franchise by shallowing it with cheesy ret-cons, plot-twists, storylines etc. just to drag it out for as long as possible in order to get as much money out of it as possible.

I guess it's normal that when gaming companies grow so big, they become like huge dinosaurs - fat, slow and dumb; that's probably also why small and agile gaming companies like Mojang and S2 have seen such surprising success in the last years - becouse they are using their wit and agility to out-maneuver their huge opponents by simply making a more fun and innovative product.

Just my 2 cents; D3 lovers, don't bash me too much pls, i have no hard feelings towards you

HoN: 1500 hours of fun for 30€
Diablo 3: 2 hours of torturing myself for 60€

Yeah, things like these make you appreciate S2. And I think Diablos horribleness is what made me come back to HoN after 6 months. Though HoN has these ¨meme contests¨ for casual BRs, it is nowhere near of that horrible Blizzard money milking machine.

D3 is dissapointing on many levels
My main point is that i paid $90 for it, I clocked normal mode in a few days and I have no interest in playing it on a harder level or with a different class so the game is nothing for me now.
Played hon for years on just $30 and a few gold coin packs

I think statistically the best developer in the world is crytek , who hasn't had a fail so far...

LoL, you missed his point completely.
Bison was referring to the comment that all HoN heroes are poorly balanced/designed. DotA2 has the advantage that they are implementing tried and true heroes, so they are "balanced". DotA still has a limited competitive hero pool, but people are happy with the heroes there because they know them.
When they first came out in DotA most heroes were terribly balanced and skills were often poorly thought out; however, they have had time and multiple iterations and tweaks before becoming what they are today.
S2's heroes are going through this phase and many are now accepted, but the new ones are still OMG DIE! S2 also release far more (too many, IMO) so they bring this one themsevles as they know the reaction new heroes generate.

did u knew that ea was coming and hon was going to be f2p, when it happened? me neither!

im not an s2 hater, but comunication/listening to comunity was NEVER the thing they are best at
Most of the community is not worth listening to.

Prior to D3, Blizzard had easily the best reputation for quality of any games company. It must have been worth several $billion to them, which means they just blew at least a billion dollars with the poor state of D3 upon release. Mind boggling in more ways than one.

Most of the rage at S2 is redirected MOBA rage and teenage angst. Yes the faceroll heroes are annoying, yes the items are imbalanced but it's free. Even those of us who paid $30 have got thousands of hours of entertainment for it.

    Love Diablo 3.
It's not Diablo 2, and it wouldn't sell if it was diablo 2. It's an extremely loot-based game that thrives on constant satisfaction to keep players interested. It's just that, a dumbed down WoW. But it's supercool and superfun to play with friend and defeat hell together. Ofcourse the old diablo fans were going to be butthurt. What did you expect...

What's funny was, at the day of d3 launch, HoN only had 18k players online. Day 2 20k, day 3 35k, day 4 75k, day 5 80k. No hon players were lost to D3

This is 100% false. I read detailed explanations on how they tested it in blue posts. Not worth reading the rest as it's prolly all false too.
