The battle has raged in Newerth for many years between the Legion and Hellbourne. Many lives have been lost and yet the fighting continues. Even the smaller skirmishes are becoming stories to be told for generations to come...


We're excited to introduce the Hero Showdown! Where two heroes are pitted against one another in an epic, community-wide war. Battles will be fought throughout HoN and each victory counts towards a final “score” which determines the winner. There is a total of five possible points that can be earned for the two sides.


Beginning on Friday at 0:00 EDT, we will track the number of matches that these two heroes win in HoN. Then, on Sunday at 23:59 EDT, we will tally up the victory count for each hero. Whoever has the most wins will be awarded two points. It's your responsibility to lead your favorite hero into battle and accrue as many victories as possible over the weekend!


But the battle will rage outside the game as well!


Friday kicks off with a vote on the official Heroes of Newerth forums on this very post! Vote for your favorite hero in the poll and then the hero with the most votes when the poll closes on Sunday will win one point towards victory!


On Saturday, head to the Heroes of Newerth Facebook page and vote in the poll there for the Hero Showdown. At the end of the day, the winner of that poll will receive one point towards their score.

UPDATE: The battle rages on Facebook! Go vote for your favorite and earn them a point!


Finally, on Sunday the battle shifts to the Heroes of Newerth subreddit , as two posts will be created there to support your favorite hero. Give them upvotes! The thread with the most total upvotes will win another point for that hero!\

After the dust settles on Monday, the points will be tallied and a winner declared! Those who voted for the winning hero in the forum poll for Friday's portion of the contest will receive an awesome symbol commorating the victory! Those who voted for the losing hero will get a slightly less awesome symbol.


But who will fight in this epic battle?

The first Hero Showdown will be fought between allies. Despite being Legion supporters, the elementals and the Behemoths have always felt threatened by each other. Over time, the Behemoths became synonymous with destruction for those elementals who took up the task of healing the earth when the battles were over. Both fought to stop the advance of the daemons and yet, a rivalry developed and tempers rose between the two groups. Then, when the war calmed for a spell, the elementals and Behemoths chose champions to settle the score once and for all. Pebbles and Behemoth will fight for the honor of their people!

So if a pebbles plays more matches than behemoth it's more likely that he wins in the longer run?

I thought it would be direct matches between behemoth and pebbles in a game, but I guess that's harder to track and those games don't see the light of day that often.

Here's hoping the 2 points from wins over the weekend is a percentage, that way it balances out the fact that one hero may be completely overplayed compared to the other.

lolol only total wins count. you can go and lose mmr, but it won't affect these statistics.
