    Implement HoN Achievements

    S2 Its time.

    I know its been in the pipeline before. And I know that S2 can do it (it was done well in Savage 2).

    Suggestion



    • Introduce achievements based on players performance in the match.
    • These achievements will be counted (calculated) after the match stats have been submitted.
    • New achievements can be introduced with the weekly patches
    • Reward players with a small amount of silver coins for all or some of the achievements (similar way that placing 50 wards works now).
    • Make positive and negative achievements (see below for examples).


    Cons


    • Resources need to be spent on development testing.
    • Extra load on processing power on servers during achievements submission (Should not be significant as this would be done after the game is over and can be done along side main game stat submission).
    • Possibility of increase in support calls due to dealing with players not receiving their achievements for whatever reason. (This can be deemed not high priority and not supported from the start).
    • New source of silver coins will affect the HoN Shop (this will definitely will have to be looked into by S2 in order to protect their revenue). However the amount of items in the shop and the increasing proportion of premium items in my opinion will not have a great impact on the revenue.
    • There will be players that will concentrate solely on getting achievements. This means that every achievement will have to be thought through in order for it not to be detrimental to the game play.




    Pros



    • Adds a new layer to gameplay and increases player enjoyment.
    • S2 gets more control over what direction to take HoN in (e.g. want more support players release new achievements based on wards or healing)
    • Having Achievements will
    • Players will see more about persons game style by observing their achievements (There have been number of discussions around current player stats not reflecting whole picture)
    • A lot of players are complaining about how everything is expensive in the HoN shop this will be a welcome income of coins (even if its a coin per achievement) by all.
    • Players new to HoN will be more motivated to play more, so the percentage of new registered accounts staying active should increase (probably not by much though).
    • S2 can explain their view on parts of the game by implementing certain achievements and naming them (e.g. an achievement can be made for backdooring, but it can be named either "Great Tactician" or "Sneaky little Rat")


    Tweaks


    Obviously there are variations to implementing this that can be done differently:


    • Number of achievements
    • Good or Bad achievements (e.g. Support stealing a kill from a carry)
    • Amount of coins for achievements (if any)
    • Level of support provided
    • Different levels of complexity of achievements:
      • starting from stats being already collected(e.g. Place 15 wards in on game)
      • moving on to game mechanics (e.g. go invisible with projectile that would have killed you in the air resulting in a miss)
      • to more complex (e.g. buy dust and give it to teammate who uses it to kill nh)

    • The achievements can be implemented to use one of two (or both) ways. Have global achievements that player will have to accumulate over many games to get one achievement. Or base it on single game where player has to do perform certain task during one continuous game.
    • As i mentioned before names of the achievements can be either fun and corny to indicate that they not serious or have negative connotations so the players will not want to get them.


    Examples
    (These are only examples do not vote no for the suggestion because you disagree with them. Obviously S2 will implement only those achievements that are not likely to cause griefing.)


    Support:


    • Destroy 10 enemy wards in one game (currently buying wards of revelation is not being rewarded in any way)
    • Destroy 1500 enemy wards
    • Heal 2000 HP in one game
    • Heal 20 000 000 HP in one game
    • Use 4 health pots on teammates in a game
    • etc etc


    Initiator:


    • Stun entire enemy team by using skill once
    • In one skill deal enough damage to enemy team to be 50% of their total combined health


    Tank:


    • Take 4000 HP worth of damage in under 20 seconds and survive
    • Take a total of 30 000 damage from enemy heroes without dying
    • Take a total of 100 000 damage in one game
    • Get 45 HP per second regeneration


    Carry:


    • Kill 6 people in one game by dealing 100% of damage to them yourself
    • Deal 500 damage in one hit
    • Kill an enemy player in under 2 seconds


    Bad achievements (Players should try and avoid getting these because they should reveal that their game style might not be accepted universally, the achievement should be named accordingly):


    • As a scout be stealthed in the vicinity of your teammates (2000 units) do not come out of stealth while the rest of your team gets killed
    • As a Witchslayer use ultimate to deal 5 dmg (While not dealing any damage to the target within last 2 mins)
    • Collect a total of 10 000 gold without dealing any damage to enemy players [this one is for long time farmers]
    • As succubus sleep teammate Devourer while he is using his ultimate
    • Play demented shaman and do not buy any wards during 45 minute game
    • Attack only creeps for 10 minutes while the rest of your teammates die twice.

    This is the only one that I thought was "meh" as it forces you to play a specific way. That is me LOOKING for errors though, and this is all I could fine.

    Kinda Nice
    I would add that a group of achivements can get u a trophy and that trophy can be sold for silver or gold the more difficult the group of achievements the more reward u get

    it was just an idea for an "anti-achievment" something people wouldnt want to get ... it could carry a - 100 gold penalty or something like that
