    Improve my play!

    Hello,

Right now, my statistics clearly indicates that I am a very bad player, and in this I am forced to believe.
I do fail in finding aspects of the game where I, as a HoN player, lack in skill. This makes me frustrated and is the primary reason to why I am posting here.

It would make me really happy, if anyone would review one of my replays. It does not matter which, as long as it is not the game where I got 17 ck with scout =)

I apologize for any grammatical mistakes.

    Thanks!

Post a replay where you think you played well and a few where you know you did poorly. This will allow people looking to help you to assess your strengths and weaknesses. (Identifying your strengths as a player is often just as important as knowing your weaknesses.)

    Alright, here:

    89271632 - this I think I did decent in.

But basically. I think I do alright in all of my games - at least on this account.

I'll post more as I find more, and as I play more!

Well the basic thing is understanding what hero is who and what their abilities are and mana costs.
After you know that you have to understand the animation and the damage ur hero can put out and last hit.
At this point you can get some good income for your hero, but! in the laning phase a lot happens and you tend to want to get a kill, so do NOT over extend! That's the main problem for beginners.

If he's faster, let him run even on 20hp, you can't catch up to him, maybe he'll turn it around with an health potion.
At the point ur out of the laning phase you should keep farming, go to empty lanes if ur playing a carry or creepstack in jungle take them out and get a core (do not just go for dmg, keep in mind Nullstone and shrunken are solid pickups).

Position urself well, if ur an arachna ur not supposed to be on the frontline, stay back and don't get urself killed but auto attack them to death.
Last thing: pick heroes with stuns or disables, witch slayer, pollywog, hammerstorm are solid pick ups for training ur gameplay.

So I should work on not dying? I don't get the thing about positioning, if anyone would review one of my replays and come with some examples I would be really happy. Thanks for your post

All right, well, I didn't look at a replay yet since I'm still at work. However, I did look up your stats and saw that your most played hero is Scout. So, from there, I looked up your Scout stats and I saw a few things that filled me in on what a couple of your issues might be.

First off, you have 3 games on a hard carry with a 30% win rate on the hero yet only 185 creep kills across all 3 games. That's really really low. Unless they were all 15 minute concedes, then you really need to work on your farming. You should be maintaining no less than 300 GPM per game if you're going to carry.

Secondly, you have a negative KDR on Scout. This tells me that since you're not farming and you're not getting a lot of kills, that you're probably spending a lot of time running around aimlessly. A lot of beginner carries have this same problem. They are constantly wondering where they are supposed to be or what they should be doing. On a carry, you should be farming non-stop until an obvious gank arises in which you can assist or a teamfight kicks off and you TP to it.

However, instead of learning to play Scout better, I'd highly suggest that you focus on the mechanics and your basics, first. Try switching to a different role until you get a better grasp on the basics. Since you have trouble getting your GPM up and your deaths down, I'd suggest you play a bit of Ra or Kraken. They both have a lot of survivability and great farming tools. Play them until you can comfortably maintain a good GPM while still helping your team.

Once you've got the hang of that, move to semi-carries with farming mechanisms like Pyro, Hag, Valk. If you can maintain 300+ GPM on them without AFK farming or unnecessary deaths, then you can try to move back to harder carries.

    Bottom line:
You need to learn how to farm consistently without putting every once of effort into doing so.
You need to learn when to get in and when to get out of fights.
Lastly, I'm assuming you need to learn that there's a lot of value in the other roles that you could be picking and understand the strengths, weaknesses, and difficulties of the other members of your team and why picking a hard carry is not always a very good option.

    Game 88464451

    11:41
you have eye lvl 2, but you did only place one of 3 possible eyes, you did not put up an eye on the edge in the middle lane to get sight, so you got banged by gauntlet and valk.
the eye on the bottom runespot was okay, but u didnt take any rune (except for the useless invis rune )

    21:00
you have eye lvl 4, but there are still only 2 eyes on the map out of 5 possible ones.

All in all you did well, but dont gank too early as scout. in my opinion scout is a hero who has to farm and not to gank early. hes a carry and not a ganker. its ok to take opportunities and get a kill here and there, but outfarming and outleveling the enemy asap is crucial in my opinion. in the end you can dominate the game by taking out heroes one by one and therefore destroy the enemies game by not letting them farm up while weakining and frightening them so your team can play a more save game.

i think with the playstyle you are showing in the above mentioned game, another skillbuild wouldve suited you better (maxing Disarm before eyes).
so you have to decide for yourself if you want to support your team with your wards/eyes (then max em, thats okay) or if you want to farm/gank more efficiently, then you should go disarm before maxing eyes.

After reading your posts I decided to try slither who did not need that much farm and it worked out really well!
I got some bloodbaths and are now above 1500. I still don't get the thing about
    positioning though.

    Thanks a lot!
