Seems ts is that kind of carry who farmes for 35 mins and than: "Oh my gosh i cant do anything, bcz i have only +hp items".
Mage can get some easy kills with his ult at 6-11 lvl, not just afk farming. And for what are u building Hotbl on him if u are not participating in team fights till 30-35 mins? Its just waste of 2k gold. You need HotBl only if u are planing to have some fights early or if u ganked hard, even in your woods, otherwise its useless item.
I don't think you're doing anything wrong but hard carries at the last thing I would take in pubgames. Simply put, most of those games dont last long enough till you're a factor and you never have proper support to be able to farm. There is a reason why everyone plays semi carries/gankers/pushers in pubs instead: they are very relevant early on and that's what wins 70%+ games. If you insist on playing him though, and want to have a bigger influence early on then take mid if you can handle it. Most people sem to have no clue how to handle a MB mid.
Also, geometers/brutalizer is what I usually build with him after helm. The extra mana burn + time on target are great paired with the survival.
This is how HoN works, except that you're a special case and picks a carry.
I pick good mid heroes rapes and pushes, and the rest of my team feed or lose their lane somehow.
Steamboots, Runed Cleaver, Whispering Helm, Savage/Brutalizer/Wingbow and Symbol of Rage do the trick (occasionally mystic vestments). You will get enough armor to mitigate incoming damage, and with lifesteal you are hard to stop. I have 77% win rate with this build on magebane. And you dont have to afk farm 30 minutes, if you can help your team, it pays off more than farming for 30 minutes, and not helping your team at all
As I stated ... Its not that Im bad with MB. I have bad teammates that dont know how to turtle... And no matter how much I farm its not enough to carry my team who overfeed them ...
So yea ... To carry a team with a hard carry - Its hard! Due to the reason that you have to have a good team mates to win it
You cannot win games with Magebane because he is a harmless hero until farmed. Therefor you are actually handicapped your team in many instances and they are playing 4v5 until you are farmed. Hard carries like Magebane who don't take mid lane are only good in organized games typically. Otherwise, the pace of the game has shifted from "babysit your carry while he farms" to "gank and push".
If you want to win games you need to pick a strong mid hero.
having 24% the problem is U not ur teamate, maybe u should play scout and ward ur own woods
I dont even understand why you build items like runed axe or alchebones on magebane. He does such hardcore damage the whole game trough. Your 380 gpm isn't even close to carrying, this is a good midders GPM, I usually end up with atleast 450 gpm on magebane when the team turtles as it should and if magebane isnt a viable pick in your bracket because of the non-gameunderstanding teammates then dont pick him.
Best build which I almost use every single game with Magebane: Black legion, steamboots, geo bane(nullstone), brutalizer, item of desire (damage, survival, mobility etc)
i think cleaver is good on mb. with his mobility you can constantly be all over the map fast. pushing creepwaves and powerfarming everything else. keeping the other team on a wild goose chase.
Not a MB pro but this is my view on it:
It all depends on the lineup but there are a few ways to play MB. If you get Helm you are building him to participate more in the mid-game stage. If you go for runned, you are basically saying that you need 5-10 more mins of your team doing a 4v5 while you get your next item.
Ideally, for damage you should get WB and Geo, if you are going the helm route i suggest to either get a firebrand first or phaseboots, because if the oposition has fast heroes you wont be able to beat them to a pulp, they will just get away. Firebrand (S&Y) is a great pickup on him IMO (gives HP, MS, ATS and a slow) but not for games with armor-stackers. Later you want to make S&Y into a FWS and Geo and preferabla a WB. The other 3 slots are for (pick 3): boots of choice, basher, SH, Abysmall, null, SM(if enemy goes WB or is NH, zeph..) or even hart :O (even thou you shouldnt be getting Abysmall, someone like pharo, kraken or some other melee who loses presence in lategame should get it for you).
I havent played aloot of games with SB on him but i think youll need a basher and Geo to be able to do anything and some kind of lifesteal is a must (Abis or dampeer) because you will be squishy as hell. You can experiment with ghost-helm-breaker build but idk how it is later in the game but ideally you should swap that helm into a hart

For someone claiming to be good, you think the TC would know that you don't pick hard carries unless you're with a team.
What do you want Runes Cleaver on MB for?
MB has great autoattack damage so AoE from cleaver is not needed, he can farm fast enough without it just fine.
MB is not a heavy mana user that would require mana regen.
And as far as damage and HP regen goes, there are better alternatives if you are looking for those.
Magebane is one of the fastest (if not the fastest) farmers in the game with a Runed Cleaver thanks to Blink, being able to jump through the camps and kill the entire jungle in seconds. However, the main reason you get it is solopushing.
The point of Magebane early is to have your basic tank items (mystic vestments, steamboots, sometimes a helm of the black legion) and a Runed Cleaver and solo push towers. It will be very hard for the opponent to kill you unless they have a burst heavy hero who often builds a portal key such as Pyromancer.
S2 should add to his first skill an "Attack Modifier". Imo he is too op now..
