Are you an aspiring Heroes of Newerth player that would like to compete in tournaments but don't want to get trounced by the professional teams? Here's your chance to shine!
As part of the closed beta, Digital Duels, in coordination with It's Gosu, are pleased to announce the Raptor Gaming HoN Amateur Cup. Raptor Gaming and S2 Games have graciously agreed to provide over $1000 in cash and prizing to the winning teams. The team from It's Gosu will provide their knowledge and experience and will administer the tournament. Honcast.com will provide coverage for the tournament.
The tournament will take place on Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 and is open to all north american HoN players with a MMR rating of 1800 or below. The tournament will be best of one for all rounds up to the semi finals, and then will be best of three through the finals.
Registration instructions:
1. Create a login here. You can either signup with facebook credentials or create your own username and password for the site.
2. Follow the instructions to add a player tag to your profile. THIS MUST MATCH YOUR PUBLIC HON PLAYER NAME.
3. After creating a gamer tag in the system, you will be able to either create or join a team.
A. To create a team, create the team TAG and the team name.

how will you prevent higher tiered players from playing? One could easily lie about their MMR.
And what about people playing on friend's accounts to play in the event?
(and what are the punishments if you do, the rules don't mention anything regarding it).

Signing up now - thought I was done playing HoN games but this looks like fun. BAND OF 1500's - UNITE!

I'd love to play in this, if 4 others would like to join me?
Even so, this is amazing for the HoN scene. 1k for amateurs? Super sweet. But like haddon said, how would you prevent smurfs?
General Grievous > Darth Maul / Boba Fett
I derped, nevermind.

I'm sure that will be solved pretty quickly once it is pointed out to them.

This is awesome and I'm grateful towards whoever made this happen. Regretfully I can't play myself.
We'll check up the players to confirm their MMR. It won't be as easy to tell if someone plays on a friends account though. But if they break the rules regarding anything about MMR or smurfs, it will result in a instant DQ. We are taking the amateurness on this tournament very seriously.
<3 just wondering how you were dealing with it - was going to steal it for our tournies, still don't know how to deal with people on friend's accounts.
^_^ Best of luck with this one!
Just as a suggestion, I believe S2 have in the past been willing to perform IP checks on accounts that tournament operators are suspicious of. So for example if a 5 man team of 1600s were 15min conceding a bunch of teams consistently you could ask S2 to check IP logs of players and see if, after the start date for the tournament, new/different/inconsistent IPs were logging into the account (obviously this runs into difficulties with dynamic ips)
Uhh what time does it begin? I'd love to join but i'm working in the morn.
Noees, this looks like so much fun, and then its only for NA players ;(
Really hope that someday you can expand this to more than the NA. But always nice to see some amateur tournaments, and good luck to you guys participating in the tourny!
