After a lengthy discussion about the naming of HoN heroes found here I decided to make a poll on renaming Ellonia.
The vast majority of HoN heroes are named in a descriptive or associative fashion. That is, their name reflects in some way what they are or what they do. Most exceptions to the rule have a name which at least sounds right for their theme.
Ellonia sounds like a random fantasy name generator name, and has nothing to do with ice. It doesn't even sound icy. Therefore I propose an improved name for Ellonia:
Krystallonia.
This stems from my original idea of simply, Krystal, which many people liked. But Krystallonia is an improvement since it incorporates the original name also.
If you vote against renaming Ellonia, please let me know why in the comments below.
If you think she should be renamed but not to Krystallonia, please let me know which alternative you prefer. A lot of people in the other thread liked simply Frost Queen.

No.
See Artesia - HoN needs more unique names like Ellonia.

I searched for Ellonia on www.dictionary.com and it came up with no results.
I then clicked the closest sounding word which it offered me:Elona
Elona is a
So yes, Ellonia isn't a word or a name and the closest sounding word has nothing to do with her.
I still don't mind fancy fantasy names. In a way it gives the Hero more personality than having a title stamped on them.
Pyromancer is a very vague name. Any magic caster that specialises in fire is a Pyromancer. Ellonia is a name.
In DotA didn't each hero have two names? Their real name and then an adjective/profession title?
Think of it that in HoN it's one or the other.
Cough Jeriziah? What does that word mean anyway?

Krystallonia is worse. Krystal would be ok, Crystal better.
Gotta say, hero names are hard.
Worst hero name by a long way? Dampeer.
Artesia and her ult look a bit like a flowing artesian well:

Ellonia is fine IMO, what precisely would anyone be accomplishing by changing her name to have something to do with ice? Your assertion is that "...vast majority of HoN heroes are named in a descriptive or associative fashion".

That's just legion heroes.
There are many more that I would list, but it could be argued that they are vaguely descriptive (such as wildsoul, i guess he's sort of a wild... soul... arguably...), so I left them off. While your preference that heroes be named something having to do with their character is perfectly fine (nothing wrong with personal opinion), your inference that this is the 'norm' is simply not true. It would seem that the reason many of the heroes have 'descriptive names' is because it is a common tactic by fantasy creators.
If you would rather think about the lore involved, it's likely most of these heroes chose their own name/title (I doubt any loving mother would name their child 'wildsoul' or 'glacius'). If we assume they name themselves, it is a fairly short leap to assume they would choose a name associated with their powers, but they by no means HAVE to. Look at comic book superheroes/villains, 90% of the time they have descriptive names like Spiderman or Catwoman; however, there are also the opposite, such as Cable, Wonder Woman, or Dr. Doom.
In my humble opinion, making every hero have a name that is descriptive of their skillset doesn't add anything to the game, if anything it truly narrows the possible creativity in naming heroes.
