Hey all,
I've gotten a few questions in regards to how the rosters work as well as the competition in general. Most of this information is available to be read in the Official Rules (which I recommend reading thoroughly) but I wanted to reiterate a few points as well as stipulations about how the tournament will function.
Q: How many players from another region can compete on my team?
A: I know this isn't a problem for MOST teams, but there are a few of the high level competitive teams who are inter-regional. The simple answer is, we prefer you to play with a minimum of 4 players from your Region. However, during the qualifier you MAY play with a second person from outside of that Region. Here's the catch to that: Your team at the actual Dreamhack event MUST BE COMPRISED OF 5 MEMBERS FROM THE DREAMHON QUALIFIER ROSTER. Let me be very clear here: If you compete in the EU qualifier event, during the qualifier you COULD compete with 4 EU members and 1 NA member with a 2nd NA player as a sub. However if your team wins, you must use the 4 EU players and only 1 of the NA players will be eligible to play at the event.
Q: If I buy a plane ticket now and my team wins the qualifier, will S2 reimburse my plane ticket?
A: S2 will reimburse a tickets cost based on what we deem the cost of the flight to be by using the lowest rate available online. So if you buy yourself a 1st class plane ticket for $2500, and the cost of a coach ticket when your team wins is only $900, you're going to get $900 back.
Q: I have a player from a region not included in the NA, EU or OC area? Can I have them play for our team?
A: No. Only Players who are listed as eligible in the Official Rules my participate in any of the events. (ie. NA Qualifiers ONLY include the USA and Canada (excluding Quebec) and do NOT including Mexico or other Latin American countries listed as "North American" territories)
Q: My team was unable to compete due to restrictions or we did not win our Qualifier, can we still compete in the DreamHoN event?
A: Yes. You may compete in the BYOC tournament at Dreamhack. S2 will not reimburse any travel expenses to your team regardless of your performance in the BYOC or the group stages of the event. This chance to compete in the DreamHoN BYOC is completely at the competitors expense.
Q: My team won the qualifier but one or more of the members cannot attend. Can we get a sub to fill in for him?
A. No. When S2 contacts your team to arrange for travel and accommodations you must provide 5 eligible members from your DreamHoN Qualifier roster. If you choose to have a substitute player from another region (ie. you have 4 EU players, 1 NA player and 1 NA sub) and one of the main regional players cannot attend (leaving you with 3 EU players and 2 NA players) you will forfeit your seed and it will be passed on to the 2nd place team from the qualifier. Additional clarification: You may not use members of another roster from the DreamHoN Qualifiers to fill in at any time.
Q: My team is registered and ready to go! When do we get our schedules?
A: Schedules will be released about 6 hours prior to the beginning of the event. The first "day" may be a little less notice because registration ends 6 hours prior to the start of the Oceanic event and brackets will need to be built. However from that point on all schedules should be out in a timely manner.

Any insight about how the qualifiers will be covered? The oceanic qualifier starts tomorrow and the EU/NA ones are this Saturday or did I get that wrong?

Honcast has all 3 of the qualifiers under "Upcoming broadcasts" so I guess they'll cover all of them.Originally Posted by DerRape
Nvm, apparently the information in dreamhon page is wrong, it says both EU and NA qualifiers are the same day and hour while honcast says NA is friday and EU saturday.

UPDATE: EU Registration filled up yesterday. Good luck to all teams who are participating! Matches for EU Day 1 begin Saturday April 28 at 20.00 CEST
Why that late? Are there any concerns about releasing the schedules early?Schedules will be released about 6 hours prior to the beginning of the event.
Is this the same for the hotel room?
Would you mind briefly explaining why?

Registration closes at 11:59PM EST on April 25th. This allows OC teams only ~6 hours to prepare against their opponents. Releasing the other schedules could create complaints that EU or NA teams had more time to prepare for their matchups by having an extended period of time.
S2 Games has already booked the hotels for the teams who are competing in the qualifiers. I will check back to get confirmation on this, but to my knowledge, we fully expect those teams who make it through the qualifiers to use the accommodations that are provided for you. Trust me, they are nice.
Quebec has many rules that prohibit organizations from running tournaments (aka sweepstakes) in the region. Here is a link that explains some of the major issues, and why many companies (including Blizzard, Activision, etc) prohibit Quebec citizens from participating in online competitions.

Day 1 is April 28th for NA as well correct? Multi parts of site has 27th and 28th just wanting to verify.
The dates are a little messed up but It starts on the 27th at 8PM EST if thats any help =]

Edit: 4 teams dropped voluntarily from the seeding after brackets were made, but I haven't gotten a list of which teams they were. However we have included 4 additional teams based solely on the time when they signed up. The following 4 teams captains should also report to admins in the Dreamhon channel at 8pm (20.00) CEST:

Here are the NA teams which will be competing. Again, these are in no specific order. Each team captain should report to Dreamhon prior to the start of the NA Qualifier. We had 87 teams of 5 or 6 register to compete in this qualifier!

i signed my team up for NA, but it didn't appear on your NA teams list. Team name is HackNSlash. Is there any reason why it isnt on the list

I have a question. How many players is it allowed to have on a team. Like, if you win the qualifier, how many players will get tickets/accommodation ?
Five players that played in the Finals, according to the Rules in the DreamHON.
PRIZES: The five (5) Players who participated in the final match played by the first place Team (each a “Winning Player” or together the "Winners") will win a trip to Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden and entry into the Dreamhack Summer 2012 Heroes of Newerth Tournament (“Dreamhack”) where the Team will have a chance to win up to $60,000 USD. The Winners will arrive in Sweden on June 15, 2012 and return home on June 20, 2012. Travel shall include airfare and accommodation in two (2) hotel rooms for Winners. In the event that a Winning Player is unable to attend Dreamhack, that Player shall forfeit his/her Prize and the Team’s sixth Player shall be eligible to receive the Prize. In order to be eligible to receive the Prize, the winning Team must be able to field a full team of five (5) Players for Dreamhack from its original roster registered to compete in this Tournament.
