I like it. It's different than LoL's, it works and it motivates purchase of new heroes whilst not ruining the free-2-play model. It is only boring if you let it be. Only downside I can think of is people that are not willing to spend any money on HoN are more likely to give up on playing at all after exploring the 30 free heroes. Maybe you should also reconsider the silver prices of heroes. A starting point could be being able to buy a new hero after knowing 10, and if you consider once can learn the basics of a hero in 5-8 games and that average silver per game is 5(?) then we got 10*5*5to8=250-350 silver to unlock a new hero. Another idea that just popped is you can reduce prices over time up to say 300 silver. Well, you get the point.
Maybe I should find something cool to add here...

I think its an improvement! But they should still rotate. its very cool to have the chance to test the brand new heros once in a while, thats what makes me wanna buy em!

i dont know. depends on what heroes are free.

also, rare picked heroes will picked even less i think. but that direction is ok, with riddance of the tokens and stuff

  4. #64
So i bough tokens, will i get any refounds for it since u will remove em?

  5. #65
Rotation must be, so u can try different heroes before just buying them as blind...

Edit: + I like that u don't need to buy a hero before getting its' avatar.

HELL NO! Please not! Then we Legacy players will have almost nothing left since F2P model was implemented... First you took our money (30$ for game) and now you are slowly removing all our benefits we gained from (Pre-)Purchasing the game... That sucks
I've long bemoaned the lack of a legacy style account available to players. It makes me sad when I want to introduce my friends to this awesome game I play, but they have to spent heaps and heaps on it because there's no option that lets them just buy the game.

If we have the option to use either the F2P model (Purchasing individual heros) or the traditional gaming model (Purchase the game itself) it opens up the idea for more people to really get into HoN.

Really, nobody should be stopped from doing something because they had the gall to discover the game after open beta.
Credit to Secron Check it out!

Good luck making another game, and getting people to buy it. What you are doing right now, might be your struggle to keep players coming to HoN, but in my opinion in the long run, you are going to lose all your paying customers for your future articles. Gamers have long memory. It kinda fascinates me that its not obvious to you, that you are going to anger most of the legacy-pool with this.

But as you are anyway going to do whatever you want, good luck, at least you wont milk me any more. Would it be too much that You refund the money I paid, and Ill move to the freetoplay -model too? As the money is not so much of an issue to you anyway?
    yep +1

Fantastic! It's great to see S2 making some changes based on the community's opinion.

I agree with the large majority of people here - 20/30 static heroes for all, and then 5/10 rotating heroes, to give all F2P players some 'new content' to play with.

It's also awesome that you're making other game modes (SD, BD, etc) viable for F2P.
    Thanks S2!

I feel like the whole F2P pool is just a cover up so we won't notice about them wanting to start and sell Legacy-status, smart move S2 too bad I outsmarted you on this one.

Give a silver discount in the shop and not just in gold coins.
Seriously, there are people like me who live in a country without access to Paypal (example: Serbia) and are too young for a credit card.
3000 silver is too much for every avatar and there is no other way for me to buy stuff except for using silver...

Or just give a standing discount to everything in shop for legacy players. (in gold as in silver)

to expensive to buy the game? i got it from beta and will prefer no noob playing on sd or ar, make can be good make a all hero pack to buy for who want it

    edit
    reasoning:

1/ rotation gives a trial period for player to test new heroes which further encourages him to buy it eventually [win-win for you]
    2/ more variety
Or 10-10... anyway, there must be a rotation.
"What are the next week heroes?"

You know you are pissing the hell out of us Legacy players?
Paid for the full game before it become F2P and we have the same rights as the nowbies.
At least give us an option to buy EA avatars with silver coins.

    this system seems fine

I think a small amount of rotations is needed, if only you add 3 per class each week, making it a total of 30 + 9 would be awesome for all the F2P players. Much better than for instance how LoL does this. The 30 static heroes is def. an improvement tho! Just thinking that you will miss out on a lot of money if you don't give F2P the chance to test certain heroes out (what you now accomplish with the F2P rotation system).

  15. #75
Both the 30 static and 20 static-10 rotation ideas are good, an idea I'd also liked to see developed more is like the ability to buy different bundles of heroes (I'm talking like 10+) in different classifications e.g Carries, Supports, Gankers, Junglers etc.

Not that I would actually ever end up that far with a f2p acc but hey

I would like to suggest that there be 20 static heroes and 12 that rotate. The reasons for this are that ONLY HALF OF THE ROTATING HEROES SHOULD ROTATE EACH WEEK. This does two things that I see as important in this thread:

1: It gives 2 weeks with any heroes that new players want to become proficient with

2: It also offers something new every week.

Additionally, the size of the rotation is small enough that all of the rotated heroes can be tried within the first day or two after the rotation happens. This leaves 5 days for honing the skills of the hero a player likes the most before anything new comes out, while still leaving another week with those heroes if they really really really like them.

I chose 6/12 rotating heroes so that two of each stat can be rotated in each time.

Also I really hope that this thread is a honeypot and all the entitled elitist get banned due to some covert addition to the ToS.

I like what's been done but I definitely agree with a mix of static heroes and a rotation.
I would say 24 static heroes (8 of each attribute) and 6 to 9 rotated heroes(2 to 3 of each attribute). This keeps things even & interesting.

But still very impressed with this move
Keep up the good work guys!

Ye this will help new players a lot but you need to think about the old legacy players too. What about lower the silver price on alt avtars so it still has a meaning to be a legacy player. Before it cost like 400-600 silver for an alt avatar now 3000, let legacy players get there alt avatars for the same price f2pp gets there heroes for. So we still get something for our 30$.
And don't forget to balance the heroes not only making new ones.
    Thanks S2

"It is a simple, perfect base from which to implement potential additions such as an Upgrade-to-Legacy fee or a subscription model to access the rest of the heroes in the future, should we decide that they are beneficial to the new player experience."

No way.. I do not agree with this and I believe the majority of legacy players wont agree with this.
