Can only play while in a skype call

    Hi there,
a while ago i made this thread http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/sh...n-a-skype-call and was told to pm the guy in case it came back. Since my pm doesn't work i just thought i shoudl create a new thread.

So i haven't had time to try out queuing on my own ( have been doing it with friends when i did have teh time ) and now that i did i noticed my problem still occurs.

The ports and all are still opened so i'm completly ran out of ideas here.

The only thing i can still think off is disabling ipflood detection but i'm not able to do that with my router ( us robotics 5461 ). So i was wondering if this fine forum could come up with a solution.

The basic idea is that i get a no response from server somwhere between immediatly and 2 minutes after joining a game ( mm and public ). This doesn' t occur when i'm in a skype call and i figured as much that skype opens the way for hon since it has ways to get around the router contstrictions.

Plz give me ideas cause i really wanna be able to queu on my own

    Much appreciated,
    Ainami

Do you have a software/hardware firewall enabled? You'll need to upload a console.log as well. Sounds like you need to forward the ports HoN uses through your router, or disabling IDS from your software firewall.

    console log : http://tools.heroesofnewerth.com/vie...3c&action=view

and as i said in the previous thread, all the ports have been forwarded for HoN, and all firewalls are off. Although when i check if the port is actually openened for my ip it says it is close.

I had similar problems with getting the ports open for MW3 but that one actually got fixed, but it didn't work for HoN.

If the port is closed then you aren't doing something correct. Is your hardware firewall (the one built in to your router) turned off as well? What antiviruses are you running (software firewalls?) You are missing something.

What kind of router do you have?

    Router: US robotics 5461

i will post a screenshot later when i'm home so you can check if i have done it correctly although i would be suprised if i didn't .
Also, even is i put the router's firewall off i still can't connect.

Antivirus = AVG but when i shut that off it won't do anything either
My pc's firewall is turned off aswell

Can you upload your DHCP client table for me to look at?
That port forwarding table looks fine if your computer IP address is actually 192.168.2.3

I see many connections, and if yours is the only one with an issue then we definitely rule out the router. Gotta be software or something. Make sure you are up to date with all windows updates, and that a software firewall is not blocking your hon.exe and hon_update.exe from hitting your router.

there are no updates left that i can do and my firewall is allowing those 2 even when it's off

    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/252/firewallr.png/

this is the reason why i turned to the forums , because every singel thing points that i should be able to play without a problem but i still get "no response from server" every single time EXCEPT when i'm in a skype call, and while i can play HoN just fine and i'm loving it, it isn't the best way of playing since i need to ask my friends every time to join a call when i want to play alone

edit: also noticed that the home marks aren't checked, but i can confirm that even with those checked i can't play, they just unchecked for some reason :<

Hrm, well I'm still having an interesting time understanding why it only works when Skype is up - as Skype uses a random port number above 1024 to connect to the P2P network. Should have no bearing on HoN whatsoever. Try uninstalling your network adapter and reinstalling it. (Go to device manager -> uninstall) then reboot. Your computer will automatically find the new hardware and install the device drivers for it.

sorry to disappoint you but that didn't fix it either

I appreciate you helping me with this though let's hope we have a solution eventually ^^

And the skype thing ... i got told that skype has ways to get around the system. So it still opens a port that normally gets blocked. I think HoN just makes use of that as soon as skype opened it ( although it might be something completly different it's just a theory )

Try having ports 443 opened for TCP and UDP.

    Tried and failed

I don't even have the option on skype checked to use port 80 and 443 as an alternative.

    The plot thickens ... XD

it still gives me the no response :'(

oh before i forget, i wouldn't rule out the router just yet. My router is downstairs and i link my pc to an router extender that is in my room and connects wireless to the router downstairs. When i hook up directly to the router i can play just fine, but i can't put a cable from my room to downstairs.

Why wouldn't you mention this beforehand? Haha, make sure you have your repeater configured properly - IE: if it is an actual router, turn off NAT, if it is a repeater, make sure its not losing your signal (causing you to drop).

    Silly silly man =P

    Ye i kinda forgot XD

It is a repeater i guess cause it only extends the signal, but it can't just lose the signal only when i'm not on skype now can it? o.O
And even if that's the case i should just move it closer to the router or something?

(scratch)And you say configure the thing but i have no clue where XD(/scratch)

edit: ok so my dad forgot to mention to me that he actually has a cd that can configure the damn thing ... i've been asking if he knows a soltuion for 1.5 years and he failed to mention this ... i will try some stuff with that and see where it gets me .
