It would be awesome if we could choose to disable or enable specific heroes when we host games. This would be very useful for:
1) Mid wars ("No Flint/Vindi")
2) Hero vs hero wars (Dev wars, valk wars, PEBBLES WARS! )
3) Pink vs Blue
4) Clan or private matches, where it is agreed that new/old heroes are OP and shouldn't be played.
What if duplicate heroes isn't turned on and only one hero is available?
That sounds like it could be abused...Duplicate heroes should be automatically forced enabled after less than 10 heroes are enabled
How would I know what heroes are disabled/enabled if I join the game?So does your mom. But seriously, all game modes CAN be abused, if you have a team that works really well together and hosts against some obvious newbs, based on previous game stats. If you don't believe me, host any mode, put in the game name "Newbs only", and just wait for a full house. Lock whoever you want to your side and start. Eventually enough people stay and you get your unfair game.
How would I disable heroes?A button would have to be added that shows the hero list, with the X's over the disabled heroes. I would suggest also separating the identifier that shows there is a custom hero list so it is pretty much impossible to miss.
What about "no agi, no str, no intel" heroes options that are already available?Since we can not change game options after hosting, they would have to be enabled/disabled at the hosting stage. I suggest a button to accomplish this with a full hero list that allows simply clicking on heroes to disable them.
Right now there is not enough space to accomodate all the potential custom game options. I suggest if any heroes are disabled, that a game option is displayed "custom hero list", then players can see which heroes are disabled or enabled after joining.
when i think about it this is actuly a good ideaMind High-Five !!!
I would like to know who thinks I didn't suggest it well. I'm not sure what I should change. :/
I got no response from the person who voted against my idea. :/
Hi! That was me. :/
I apologize! I totally meant to type up a response when I got home, and then subsequently forgot to respond (also, the forum gave me no mention of your private message until now...)
I honestly don't know why I said the idea was not suggested well... enough so that I feel like I must have misclicked the option on the poll...
Not only do I think this is a great idea that should be implemented, I think the interface for choosing which heroes will be unavailable could be identical to the banning interface (except, obviously, before the game is hosted). That would be Awesome!
One issue is if you disallow a large number of heroes (which would inevitably come up), there isn't really a great way to display that say, 30 heroes are turned off (or even 10-20) in the game list.
Having a button to click to view/not view this list seems cumbersome (you would have to click on a game, and then click the button to view the list of available heroes), but perhaps this could go further than a simple game option, and move to being a game type?
What if while browsing games of this type, there was always a small panel open that showed the hero selection screen, and it could just display which heroes are enabled/disabled?
Or, if you were to keep the button idea, it could be a toggle that slides a panel in or out, so you could leave it open while browsing matches.
Is there any way I can change my vote? :S This gets a thumbs up from me!
Lastly: Even though this is an awesome idea and it would get used (frequently) the return on time investment for S2 is likely too low for it to be implemented.
Again, my apologies for the confusion and my lack of response to your PM.
