What are your thoughts and don't give me those rare examples because its true in general.
I, myself average around 180 - 200 apm.. But we do have a support player in the clan whos below 100 and hes doing just fine
trying too hard to spam actions doesn't make your play any better, but having good reflexes will allow you to react/play faster and in turn play better
Wasn't that hard to explain![]()

FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY~!
Don't worry guys, Lodestone won't be getting picked up in competitive, your balance forum regulars have assured it in this Lodestone balance thread ;)

Well, you can have high APM but that doesn't mean every action youbmake is actually wothwhile doing, like spamming a mouse button multiplebtimes on the vaguely same location for no reason.
Pro players in general make more worthwhile actions in their total apm than the average player (as in, less pointless click spam, more useful actions taken).

If you are good and have a low APM, then the conclusion I might draw is you have better reflexes than me.

I hit 65-80 APM Casual mode.
I hit 70-120 APM Normal mode.
Of course heroes you play factor in and who you are up against. I check stats before game play.
Don't worry about APM or whatever just make sure to check your mini map regularly.
frankly i don't see how you can play this game well if you can't manage at least 100 in short bursts. The faster you can get things off (accurately) the better you're going to do. Certain heroes also have really high APM in order to do certain things but it comes naturally. Personally I have over 200 APM in just about every game I play, but a lot of that is because i like to keep moving rather than using s or h so i spam move a lot while laning. However on certain heroes I actually put that to good use. Arachna for example i usually have 220-240 simply because for the duration of the laning phase, I spam web shot to harass and all that q clicking ads up when you do it quickly and often.
Wow, talk about spam-clicking if you have 220-240 just harassing. This isn't Starcraft. That and WC3 are the only games where high APM matters because you can actually be doing that many useful things in a minute. In DotA/HoN, if you have more than 200 then I think you're killing your mouse.
i agree
better players just have higher apm because they are checking up in places and making sure if they do something it counts
doesnt mean that spamming something in hopes of getting higher apm will make you better. Its just an effect of doing things right, but that can also be the effect of just a bunch of spamming.
as Day[9] has always said, having a good memory of what you need to do in SCII will mean your naturally going to have higher apm. checking up on people's items, creep stacking, checking runes, typing out missing or returned, buying items, using the courrier, canceling your spells because its going to be **** otherwise, stopping your attack because its not going to kill the creep are all parts that if remembered well will just improve apm naturally
It's what you do with your actions that counts. I have less than half your APM op, but we're in the same bracket. Whether you move out of the way of the Valk arrow with a single click , or 30 the end result of not getting hit with the arrow is the same. Sometimes it's true you need more APM for certain heroes, but I think the most I've ever gotten up to was 70, or so when I was micro'ing several units. I just don't see the point in clicking 300 times on the well when you want to go back as opposed to once.
I'd appreciate your thoughts on my suggestion for gold coins!

APM is only really relevant in games like Starcraft, where you need a sick amount of APM to be able to compete with the professionals.
In HoN you only need enough to micro your hero, you'll easily get by with 100 APM, maybe with peaks of a bit higher when dealing with stressful situations. But you don't have to micro an entire army in HoN, unless you're playing![]()
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I never understood why do you need more than about 100 - 120 apm in game like HoN. If you are below 80, well you're probably doing something wrong, but anything around 100 is good. Anything above 150 is overkill and you are just wasting clicks.
Oh look, it's THIS thread again. . . :/
Also, S2 should replace APM on the stats screen with wards. Much more valuable stat to track and would encourage players to buy/place more wards which will help increase the skill level of the general player populace.
BUNNY LOVES YOU!
most of the time, the harder you try the higher your apm gets
but yeah like you said OP, good players have high apm but having a high apm doesnt make you a good player
i have a pretty constant 140-170 apm and i dont think when i play "lets spam for amp" or similar, i just click a lot and i like to think that it helps me be on the edge for when it really matters. thing is you could do the same thing with a lot less apm its just about comfort and style.
some heroes and/or situations require an considerably higher apm like teamfights and you have to drop your items and or your stuns as fast as possible etc.
other things just requires boss timing/reaction and not neccessarily high apm, like the perfect nomad ult, bubbles take cover or disjointing the enemies last attack that would've killed you.

Seems about right.
I don't see how you can actually play this game properly without at least 100 APM. I've seen people with <60 APM and it baffles me... Are they just A+clicking a lane and then leaving to take a dump?
Kongor: The King of Kings
My best jungle legio game: 32 apm... They cc'd at 15, I ganked once but our sidelanes won very hard. I always see every jungler have low APM, i guess laning makes you have alot APM.
This
No, ur just bad. A bad jungler has this kind of uber low apm. What are you doing, just watch the camp spots dying? Seriously, when I jungle, I watch my teammates, scroll around the map to check out whats going on. That gives a lot of APM. Also, stacking, pulling etc. Eventually I ward my own woods, or use the courier to scout some things if noone uses it and when I'm farming anyway. And I gank. U can't be a good jungler if you have 30 APM, that was obviously a noob game or something. I always lol when I see people who think junglers need to have low apm. I mean yeah, of course it is lower than usual...but...32?!?!? No way. That's just retarded. Ganks ganks ganks. If you only farm, ur doing it wrong anyway...I mean cmon...32?!?!?!?!?!! Are you fapping while jungling?
In a serious game I have over 220apm and I know that I spam a lot but it helps me focusing and to have good reflexes at all time, otherwise I would be a lazy bastard and only click the minimap.
