Hello guys, I am having issues playing HoN on my Aspire One Netbook ( let me finish before judging ).
First, the specs:
Intel Atom N450 1.66Ghz ( 512kb Cache )
SSD Corsair Force GT 60GB - SATA 3 ( 40GB Free )
2GB DDR2 SO-DIMM 800Mhz RAM
GMA 3150 ( Integrated Graphics )
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bits
I have a good desktop machine that plays hon wonderfully, but it's a shared computer, so I would like to play hon in my netbook too. The minimum system requirements says that a GMA 950 is enough to play HoN, so considering this, let's head to the issue.
After lowered everything in the graphics menu and even the Audio, I went to "Create Game" and gone to Practise. Did this about 10 times, and played about 20 minutes without problems, I even finished one game without problems ( About 20 FPS - Playabe ). I set my windows to the shittiest settings ( put it back to the classic style, and unchecked all the System Performace settings in the control panel, and closed all the Processes ( except the crushials ). After all this i got a RAM usage of 450 - 550MB.
Until here everything is fine. The only problem is the loading before the matches that is very very slow, but there is nothing i can do since is an Intel Atom. My problem is, when i go to the "Play Now" with my friends, or without them, i can easily get in the matches, but after about 1 minute, when the creeps start spawning I get the K2 Exception Crash Error. Than, I open HoN again, try to reconnect, and after 15 secs I got the same crash error, and than it goes on and on. In the Public Games the same thing happens.
I got all the latest drivers, and even the BIOS is up to date.
Already tried closing the Antivirus and the Windows Firewall. Tried putting the "-vid vid_gl2" in the game icon shortcut and using the following comand in the CMD "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072",
Any ideas ? Thanks for reading and for any help. <3
Can you also upload your console.log and post the link to it here:
Also, the next time you play non-practice mode HoN (whether it be no-stats, public, or MM), leave your task manager minimized. The next time it crashes, take a look at the physical memory usage history and see if it run out of memory.
Here is the console log ( since April 10th or 11th ).
I tried what you said and did exactly the same thing I posted, but this time watching the RAM usage and it didn't pass 1.5GB, so there was 500MB of free memory. The processor only was at 90% + of usage at the loading screens. I dont know if this helps, but i already tried games that demands more graphics and RAM usage on this netbook, I got **** FPS but they didn't crash at any time. So I hardly doubt that there is something with the GMA 3150.The Windows console file 'console.zip' has been uploaded.

Any ideas ? =)
EDIT: I made a video so you have an idea of what is going on. In the beggining i'm in the Practise mode, you can see it's very smooth, playabe. After that I entered a public game and got the crash after about 15 secs. ( sorry for the quality and audio, my phone is kind of old )
EDITē: Found the issue. I get the crash everytime I click on the minimap to look other places. What could it be ? The same thing happens in the video. I tried to change in-game settings to OpenGL, but the game didn't open again. Had to delete it and install again, and the GMA 3150 supports OpenGL. Tried to click in the minimap on the practise mode and got the crash again.
The SSD is brand new ( bought it last week ), so there are almost no programs installed.
Thanks YEW, it worked ! My hon is good now, i'm just getting a FPS drop when i'm near creeps and heroes ( About 20-16FPS alone, and it drops to about 10-12 when near heroes ) . I can play but sometimes it's hard, and the small screen doesn't help. My netbook has a VGA output, do you think it would be better if I use my 32' TV as monitor, or would push the GMA even more, and eventually more lag and worse fps ?
Well, you're more likely limited by your CPU than anything else, as the HoN min specs is 2 GHz.
There's also a chance that the fps will get worse with the monitor switch, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.
You can try several things to speed up the processing:
I'm doing a reserch to overclock the Atom to 1.9Ghz ( it won't change much in terms of temperature or energy comsumption, so let's see what happens. I don't think it is going to be possible, but i'll try.
I tried the tips in your link and they worked a bit. I got a better FPS ( about 2 - 4 higher ), and the loading stages were much faster ( after the first game, it takes only 30s to load and get to the picking fase, in the matchmaking. Now I can farm ( not a very good farm but I still can get some lasts and denies ) but it's still hard to get into a teamfight.
But i still can't undesrstand one thing, after a "FPS decrease" when a team fight happened, the ATOM didn't respond to that ( its usage didn't change at all ). Only to both CPU 0 and CPU 1, in the " Set Affinity " the usage goes to 100%, but when using only CPU 0 or CPU 1 it's like the picture i'll post here. It's 54% usage, and i didn't notice any diference in using both or only one ( N450 is a single-core, 2 threads (?) processor, 1,66Ghz and 512Kb chache, with the GMA 3150 built-in )
Any ideas ? =)
