HoTBL, what to replace it with?

    Hi guys!

I've seriously started to dislike HoTBL and I want to find a way to replace it for something 'more useful' mid/late game as imo HoTBL is just a very good core early/mid game and whenever people are starting to dish out the real damage this item is a 2K waste. Maybe I'm wrong, in that case could someone explain to me why it is used by so many in so many games? Cause as far as I know it blocks a tiny bit of damage every attack if you got charges and give some regeneration bonus and 300 hp ( which is good but don't matter tons lategame obviously )

What do you use instead for survavibility early on? Please, let it be something I can build on later if possible.

    depends on your heroes..
u know to break hotbl? get heart then late

btw. hotbl also good for tower block early on.

but should really list your heroes of interest.

I use it on Legio, but it works awesome on jungle heroes obviously since you take alot of low damage hits from several units.

I'm thinking devo, armadon, kraken etc

Disassemble it and make a Behemoth's heart.

Skip it, build iron shield instead. It's almost as good for blocking, + armour, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper. That allows you to rush the more useful items like shamans and behe, barbed etc. Added to the fact that you can buy the duck boots from the side shop as well as ALL of the shamans components.

Since the nerf HotBL isn't worth getting on anyone IMO. The HP and regen is nice but the item is over 2K and it's only useful if you get it REALLY early.

The iron shield will give you a comparable block effect, plus armour, the shamans doesn't taper of in usefulness until lategame where magic damage burst isn't as big a factor, plus they are much easier to build up in terms of the price of components, you get more armour, and you don't waste money on an item that you disassemble in favour of behemoth's heart after 10 minutes. If you grab a beastheart next item (after shamans, shield) then you're just as (if not more) tank, and can simply save for the expensive component of your behemoth's heart as your next item.

Theres no need to pick hotbl to lego, theres many better items for him. I never picked it up, even when it was "op".
Hotbl is nice item for tanks, cause they give you early and mid game surviveablity and later you can make heart from it.

Ok, never been using iron shield but since it gives like 6 agility, is it still ok to run it on strenght heroes without it being stupid? Also, if I DO happen to buy hotbl, how to i disemble if i later want to pick up a behe heart instead?

Usually I'll invest in a power supply + a tablet, a tablet gives some str, but the survivability is better with the effect of it.
Also Iron shield gives a reasonable amount of armor but I rather would go for a RoTT.

Hmm. I tried the tablet. The idea is fine, but if I'm being chased and use it it gives me a ministun and I barely get to create a bigger distance. How do you want me to use it effectivly? Like over walls and stuff like that or is that even possible, I never had to tried that

ok im gonna assume ur looking for tank items around a similiar price to it.
Headress is awesome against magic damage teams.
2x beastheart is 500 hp, almost double of Hotbl.
beastheart and 2 chainmails can be nice against a lot of physical damage. Later u can turn the chainmails into bulwark as well.
Insan is a little bit more costly, but it gives a massive hp boost. At the same time it gives you a lot of dps and the ability to juke and turn around fights with the bonus hp.

Well if you are having a good game and can get it early enough insanitarious is a good choice. 400 health whenever you want it and a bunch of early game damage. Just remember its important to get some kind of serious health regen (shaman's headress, behemoth's heart, life steal) after you make it or you will have a hard time using insanitarious for any substantial length of time.
