Does having an good MMR/PSR (e-peen) have anything to do with your IQ?
As in would a 2000 MMR guy be 'smarter' then an average 1500?
HoN has strategies/planing (thinking) involved. So is this 2000 MMR guy better at these then the 1500?
Or is it just experience, knowing certain tactics, mastering this particular genre making him 2000 rather then him being intelligent beyond a 1500.
experience, tactics, mastering > iq imo

I see what you're tryin to get at.. Truth to be told, the formula is much simpler and can be described as, (time put in * g = MMR/Skill level )where time is the absolute factor and g only has a nominal relevance.
Wat? It's impossible to calculate your MMR since there are too many unknown variables to take into account. If you simply ask people their IQ in regards with their current MMR rating, you'd get no real result. Merely a false interpretation of connections which could be translated in numrous different ways. Since people can be smurfing, getting boosts etc. you'd also get a lot of statistically anomalies.
Simply put, IQ is just a quotient derived from tests to assess intelligence a kind of intelligence, when in reality there's a lot of ways to be intelligent in. I can't see any connection with the two. Mozart was a genius when it comes to music, but I doubt he'd have a great career being a soccerplayer. Both different types of intelligence.
All in all, the tests mostly used in standard IQ tests can't be in any way applied to HoN.
You're absolutely right; but I believe you misinterpreted my message. Simply put, what decides if you are going to become a succesful HoN player or not is the amount of time spent playing multiplied by a factor of your general ability (see: WP article on g), i.e if you are exceptionally gifted 1 hr of playing HoN will have superior "performance" yields compared to if you are at just average intelligence. This is by no means true in extremis but it is a simplified version of the reality.
@trigshady: I'll get back to you on this, carpe noctem!
back in the beta when like 8 of my rl mates started with hon (all 9 of us were new to this game, beside of like 10-20 dota games in lans) I made the experience that the smarter ones of us increased our ratings way faster than the not so smart ones (looking at the # of games obviously), like me + 2 mates (the smart ones, hehe) got to 1650 psr damn quickly, while the other guys all dropped down to ~1300-1400 psr and slowly climbed up to 1500 psr over weeks and are now still hovering at 1400-1600 mmr
I think IQ is a factor for being higher mmr, but not the most important one
People at the top have hon absorbed into their reflex and personality and subconcious , it's about how serious you can take it and how much time invested , any monkey can drive a nascar if it has been doing it for the ast 20 years or something...
People have reached an absurd level because understanding everything is no longer an insurance of superiority..
I've made the experience that (without trying to offend someone), the verbal harassments between 1700s are on a higher level, than, let's say, between a 1700 and a 1500.
1500s usually try to counter all my arguments with a "keep fapping to your animes", "at least I have sex nerd" and "I have a life fag". True story.
It doesn't show anything about what knowledge they have in some areas, but their written articulation is usually on the level of a 12 year old.

This isnt true. I have a friend who probably played close to 5k games, yet he is still hovering between 1600-1670. But of course you need to play a lot of games to become good. You need the experience and knowledge first, but once you have acquired that you need the feeling.Originally Posted by Spacey
I think the word youŽre looking for is "talent". Just like any other sport or any other activity, thereŽll always be people who are just better than others. ThereŽs no explanation for this. Why is Messi the best football player (I dont know, I dont watch football)? He grew up with it, he practiced his whole life. Sure, but so have a billion other kids. Same goes for everything else. Anyone can become good with a lot of practice, but only the talented ones can become the best.
I think this guy it onto something. Sometimes some people are just way better than other people in some disciplines. Even with lesser training.
I would bet that there are a fair amount of people who played the beta who still plays now. And I bet that most of those still aren't good enough to play in the professional scene even thought they put effort and time into the game. Statistically most of those people should at least be on the level of chu, but they aren't. Must be genetics.
The ability to think fast, evaluate the situation with quick reflexes.
I have a very high IQ that could rival einstein if I bothered to study etc. My rating sucks tho cause of these noobs on my team

Also to the one that said that you can play hon 1950 but be a couch potato, [or something] , in a way most of the before-modern-era geniuses lived in dirt , mostly because they didn't want to adapt to a "defunct " system , in a way , the way you life can't be defined as how smart you are , it's like saying all the rich people are smart and intelligent and understand the world , and also in way saying that all rich people would be good at hon.
