Which attack modifier is better on Predator: Frostburn or Sheildbreaker?
This is in addition to :AlchemistBones:, :Steamboots:, :SolsBulwark:->aemonicBreastplate.
I think you should get either before your demonic breastplate, first of all. But having said that the answer is it depends.
If you have no problems sticking onto a target, meaning your team has enough stuns/slows, then go for shieldbreaker.
If you find that you will need to be leaping on to someone and sticking to them without many stuns/slows following you up then frostburn is better.
The reason for above is that shieldbreaker is 90% of the time more damage, but damage is useless if you are not actually able to hit anyone.
Just quoting myself from another thread:
I wouldn't say that he's completly useless, for a carry he's very strong in the laning phase (and you have tons of options on how to lane him) however due to him being countered heavily by certain items he does taper of greatly late game.
The point of going sols+sb early is that you increase his damage output as much as possible before the opponents get the chance to mass up a great amount of items that counter pred (you also abuse the fact that he has a built-in "sh" before other carries have a chance to get this, so for a period in the game he's actually harder to counter than most carries). Personally I prefer to run him with a bit more tanky/mobile build (especially after the sb nerf), something like insanitarius->sols->frostburn/fws (don't head for fws with poor farm)->sh(if necessary) etc, he'll still rip through almost anything that he gets in contact with. Despite this most players at a high rating apart from me still run sb+sols when I see pred (rarely).
If it goes late game you basically need to have some other carry apart from pred though, if he's the only threat he'll just get kited to no end but with another (ranged) carry behind him they'll get punished for it. Keep in mind that having a great amount of disables on your team also helps pred a lot.
If the current "tanky" meta continues I think we may see pred played as a lastpick, however you need to have and be against the correct lineup to play him and I still consider him a relatively weak hero.
Regarding lifesteal I'd almost never get this on pred, either get something to help combat his weakness late game (mobility, aka frostburn/fws) or abuse his early game power (sb). The only time I've gone lifesteal on pred has either been vs a team with almost no physical output and no jump potential (so basically a really shitty lineup and we would've won either way) abusing the fact that I was practically immortal during stone hide and shrunken (elder) or if a game goes to extreme late game and my team just needs me to stay alive in the fight (symbol).
okay, first: Ganking > Alchemist bones T_T come on! Predator is so heavy, and rips people apart from level 1 trough 5, gank mid, gank sidelane, do something! I am sure there is an intelligence or agility hero without a blink on either one of those. And go for Shield Breaker, you can have this at the 10'th minute easy, where - it - just - hurts and end the game faster than you can say "lol no wards"
I honestly never saw the benefit of frostburn - if people want to kite you and are able to, they will still be able to frostburn or no frostburn. OFCOURSE there will be retards that disproves this by being utterly incapable of juking, understanding itemization or hero skills, or something other insaniously ridicouless excuse for their demise.
Steam -> chalice -> sols -> sb -> demonic -> savage.
I very much dislike Frostburn on Predator. I ALWAYS get Shieldbreaker and Daemonic. The physical damage from his passive makes him benefit hugely from these items. As an attack modifier frostburn is garbage, especially for a hero with a leap that slows already.
The only really valuable part about Frostburn for Pred is the +hp, which helps him out a lot. But I'd prefer to build either a Helm/Shrunken or just be careful. If you cast Terror and had SB and Daemonic, your enemy will have -18 armor. That's a huge loss in EHP and a vast increase in Pred's DPS.
Str heroes: Oh noes, slowed for a sec while i still manage to live, after that i run away.
Agi heroes: same thing.
Escape mech / disjoint: Oh no he used leap. What am I going to do?"
Honestly, claiming frostburn is rubbish is just as retarded as saying "always go for frostburn". If you need to stick on a target, you will need it a lot of times depending on your mates. Yes, breaker is a beast in terms of dps compared to FB, but as it always has been: If you cant stick on your target, how will you deal damage? The extra amount of hp and wee bit of armor given by FB isn't bad either.
Sorry, but I'm tired of the constant shitstorm claiming something is rubbish without taking multiple factors into account. His leap simply won't do if you don't have mates that can keep your enemy slowed and / or stunned. All this said: I'd also prefer breaker on him, but only when I know that stickong to targets won't be a problem.
