What are typically ur starting items?
3x :MinorTotem: :ManaBattery: :WardOfSight: and :RunesOfTheBlight: - when i'm playing all by myself with complete random strangers
or
:ManaBattery: :RunesOfTheBlight: 2x :WardOfSight: :HealthPotion: 2x :ManaPotion: - when i'm laning with a friend, the potions are actually for him
or
2x :MinorTotem: 2x :WardOfSight: :RunesOfTheBlight: :CrushingClaws: :ManaPotion: - when i'm playing a melee support like:jera:
thoughts?
depends on the team/hero but if its affordable, i go :FlyingCourier::WardOfSight::HealthPotion::MinorTotem::MinorTotem: for the start.
i usually go 2 wards, 2 mana pots, 1 health pot, 1 runes of the blight and 2 minor totems
i have hardly seen anyone BUT mid using the courier so i upgrade it as soon as i get my first 200 gold, using it to ferry items to myself mostly....started doing this recently and the continous lane presence has upped my game alot and then complete my :PowerSupply:
I'd recommend against starting with a power supply, you can buy one from the outpost. Use that gold to get yourself extra totems or a claw/mark or similar.
2 wards up courrier and runes and bot or just runes (if Im plague or a non-mana-intesive support)
Another start up thought would be to get :CrushingClaws: :MarkOfTheNovice: 2x :MinorTotem: :RunesOfTheBlight: and :WardOfSight: and then rush a :chal: with a :ScarabRing: from the sideshop....but only on heroes that got some healing mechanismare some that come to mind

If I see someone getting chalice on nymphora I will figure out a way to choke you over the internet. No joke.
:PretendersCrown::MinorTotem::MinorTotem: :WardOfSight::RunesOfTheBlight: and 2x:ManaPotion: or :HealthPotion: depending on whether I need hp regen or mana regen on that hero.
If the hero is good with an early chalice I replace the crown and totems with the 3+ str & int stat items and
get gravekeepers locket later on. I always build gravekeepers locket on just about every int hero and either
mana battery or chalice.

Holy crap I first read "Starting items on puppet" and was thingking "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?" buuuut then I was more like "oh...". ANYWAY back to topic.
Buy one ward for yourself, give another one to the other side lane. And depending on the lineup (aggressive / passive) loads of regen or more like minor totems and some moderate regen. Or up a courier if I think say, mid needs it soon. Or if I think I'll get destroyed and never get that 200g again!
Christ, tryhard supports that buy courier upg & 2 wards at the beginning of the game...
You are most likely not the only support on your team, spend 100g on one of the wards and upg courier the moment you get 200g. The courier probably won't be used until you get 200g anyways.

I usually play 5v5 bp and there a flying courier is mandatory to scout out fb-gangs etc. But I agree that while playing with 5 randoms its rarely used before minute 2.
Never the less I also buy wards + upgrade the courier. That has nothing to do with beeing tryhard, but making sure your team wont suffer if you get your ass raped when entering the lane. I had plenty of situations where I had to permanently sacrifice myself to safe the carry on my lane and could hardly afford to buy wards or upgrading the courier. In these cases you can be happy as a support player if you did your job prior to entering the lane.

2x:WardOfSight::HealthPotion::RunesOfTheBlight: :MinorTotem: :MinorTotem:+:MinorTotem: or :ManaPotion1 or 2)
