For those who fail to see how this will make the game grow - re-read the russian Garena move thread. There were IDENTICAL whines and butthurts there; from "omg i can't play with my friends anymore" over "S2 sold us out" to "S2 is racist towards russians", but lo and behold - most players except the russians welcomed the decisions becouse most players found playing with russians hard. And guess what? 1 month after the move russian Garena HoN's player numbers exploded; it's becouse of THIS move that we have reached 100.000 players online, not becouse EU or US players - which many of you are so eager to rub in our face once player number increases are mentioned.

I see the same thing here; brazilians are whining, US players are rejoicing becouse they won't have to play with BR's anymore, just like EU players did for russians.

As for SC2, LoL, Dota2 and Diablo 3 allowing players to play in other regions: be my guest and go play those other games becouse S2 has locked you to your region. Choose a different region than your native one and this will probably happen: you will have higher ping and thus more problems playing; when you will do badly, they will start complaining and you will say "I have lag"; then they will ask you why and you will say "I'm from RUS/BR" and then your whole team will start flaming away and tell you to get the **** out and go back to your own region and play with your own people. How many such games will you be able to tolerate before you give in to the inevitable truth that playing in your region is the best and most sensible thing to do?

Do you really thing that in Dota2 US/EU players will tolerate "huehuehue" and "[][][][] )))))", just becouse the game will allow other regions? Think again. Probably Valve and Blizzard will think so too; and as for LoL - you can switch regions, but for a fee, so either you pay or you give in and play in your own region. Life is tough.

I predict 150k players in a couple of months after this move, so gg wp s2
You may be right, but for those who bought the game, that's just not fair to be excluded.

Probably some quick cash by selling the rights to Axeso5 and Garena, seems like they're just trying to keep themselves afloat. S2 can't seem to afford advertisement or tournaments.

Garena looks like they are doing things right tournament-wise down there in SEA. 150k ladyboy tournament? SELL ME OUT TO GARENA ALREADY.
We're getting Axeso5, not Garena, closes DotA server in Argentina had 400ms ping, while I had 150~ to NA, I honestly don't trust these guys.

Also, HoN is only popular in Brazil, down here in Peru barely anyone plays it, only a handful of my friends play it.

Trying man, kinda hard to smile and keep playing when you see the already broken community getting even more shattered.

I really hope they allow me to separate my Main and Alt accounts in the transfer so I can keep one in HoN NA, just in case

Ok, that's enough... I was trying to support this company but the only things you guys do is screwing this game.
And it cames the day that I'll stop... And not only me, many people that I know will give up from this game, its so sad, I was a regular customer and this is like giving a foot on my face from you S2.

Really hope you guys don't start IP blocking us, otherwise, bye bye... Me and so many other ill move on to another company that really cares about their players.

Pretty sure the reason for the decision was that S2 was hoping to expand their game - HoN in Russia and SEA has grown by quite a lot since the 'segregation'.

That's a sad move S2... I like HoN because it is (or at least was) international and you could find people from any country. Making certain regions "stick to their own kind" is a wrong decision, giving mates no opportunity to play with each other anymore. I've been a supporter of you until now but you really want people to stop supporting you. (and no, I am NOT directly affected by this change)

Edit: ^ agreed with the poster before me. You're not caring about your customers; not all all. You even give them a kick to the face for supporting you.

i really think this is a dumb move from s2, i know it worked on garena but cmon on international servers the population is already below 40k if you remove Brazilians and korea the population will drop even more...

Read the terms of service then - fair or not fair, S2 can do with their product as they wish (like i wrote, life is tough). What if they decided to shut down the services for those regions instead?

In related news - Electronic Arts has recently announced the server shutdown for a whooping 11 of their games: http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates
Now imagine you bought "Godfather 2" or "Fifa 10" 1 or 2 years ago and now you won't be able to play it online anymore, ever.

At least you'll be able to play HoN for years to come, even though in another region

I'll be able to play HoN for years to come, waiting also years to get a game. If they're about to do it, just shut down the service, the end. So we can move on and play another games 'bout to come. Well I'll just wait and that's it. If they do it, so be it, we, costumers can't do anything about it.

I am still wondering why does it has to be a complete region lock, and not just region selection like with USEast, USWest and Europe servers.

Is this something imposed on by the other company? (garena, cis, etc.) or is there any other reasons for such a move?

I'm curious as to why can I play on an oversea server (for me, the european one) and not on a south american server.

Screenshot of the record-breaking 100k online:

The player number depends mostly on the time of day; if you live in the US and you look on CIS in the afternoon, most CIS players will be sleeping; if you'd log in at 4am in the morning, you'd see that there are many more CIS online, since it's the middle of the day on the other side of the globe.

We read virtually the same stuff about Garena from russian players before the move; furthermore we STILL read basicly the same stuff everytime a new hero is released: "I think the hero is OP, even though i haven't even tried it once". I understand that you don't trust them, but at least give them a chance before you condemn them

Trust me when I say that despite what everyone seems to think, S2 is not trying to kill their own game. If they start a partnership such as this, they expect good things to come out of it, and their playerbase to expand, which I am not doubtful it will.

Want to bring servers to LA, ok, but IP block is such a bullshit.
Ward sells... but who's buying it.

So I take it by Xander's silence that the answer to the question of being able to play with south american friends is: no, you cant.
