The Future of HoN in Latin America and Korea

Wish some "big" game related webiste/magazine makes an article about S2 and how they ignore the community. WE KNOW YOU ARE READING THIS and still NO ANSWERS TO WHY THE BLOCK IP's.

It's not fair to us, no, but IP locks make perfect sense.
This is a business decision, even though they are trying to phrase it as a customer satisfaction issue. All rights for advertising, customer support, and server hosting are being handed off to 3rd parties. An IP lock is, unfortunately, the only way to make this decision. Companies that host servers and pay for advertising should receive whatever income is due to them via store transactions.

They have to make sure that people in the new regions have their purchases go towards the company responsible for maintaining servers/advertising. Their playerbase will probably grow as a result, because S2 has not really marketed in these areas yet. The handful of disgruntled customers they lose is far outweighed by the people they will bring in from these other companies who actually market their game.

Sad.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't make any sense.

Some say the problem are BRs that play with ppl from USA, and they can't speak english, and that ruins the game.

BUT FOR GODS SAKE, look at the other side of the coin. There are BRs playing, and they cant talk to USA ppl because they can't speak portuguese.

So you see, it's BAD for both sides.
The solution?

MAKE A GODDAMN LA SERVER OPTION.

Why would BRs, that can't speak english, queue in an USA server, with only ppl talking in english?

THEY WOULDN'T.

They would queue on LA servers. Me, as a BR who can speak a little bit of english, would queue on USA servers, why? Because it's important to practice my english, as I need it in my academic career. And I like hearing/talking in english.

But yeah, in S2's really narrowed vision, IP blocking is the smartest choice.

Instead of making part of globalization, they are going back in time.

People that said this about region locking on CIS all complained and now they still play every day. If you are a nerd and addicted to this game you wont quit. If you have a real life you might but stop forum spamming. Everyone in the USA is very happy about this.

Los torneos, se me pone la piel de gallina.
Pensar que la primera vez que vi un torneo de un video juego jamas pensé que harían algo así en Latinoamérica y ver como ha crecido el e-sport en esta región del planeta es algo que no se puede creer.

Muchos se quejan del IP Blocking pero no piensan en el avance que esto traerá, no solo para la comunidad latina de HoN si no para toda la comunidad gamer. Quisiera que la comunidad latina de HoN mire en el pasado, un año atrás para ser exactos, a la comunidad del sudeste asiático, S2 Games le dió a esa comunidad la misma oportunidad que nos esta dando ahora, algo que no muchas empresas de video juegos hacen y miren lo que ocurrió. HoN Garena explotó, tienen casi tantos usuarios como el servicio internacional, se hacen grandes competencias y torneos de HoN, yo creo que la comunidad del sudeste asiático y el trabajo que han hecho allá son un ejemplo a seguir y espero, o mejor dicho creo, que podremos realizar un trabajo de igual o mayor calidad que el que han hecho allá.

Y ni bien se abra el foro de HoN, responderemos todas sus dudas .

A lo mejor les puede sonar falso, pero me encantaría que en vez de mirar con desconfianza sobre esta acción en conjunto de Axeso5.com y S2 Games, nos den todo su apoyo para que podamos realizar algo, algo que marque la escena gamer en América Latina donde podremos decir que hubo un antes y un después, y que esto sea un cambio positivo como nosotros creemos que será.

I would like the latin american HoN community look back in the past, go back one year ago to be more accurate, and look at the southeast asia community. S2 Games gave them the same chance they are giving us now, something that not many videogame companies do and look what happened. HoN Garena expanded so much that they now have almost as many users as the international servers, they have huge HoN tournaments and events. I believe the southeast asia community and the work they have done there are a role model and I hope, actually I believe, we will be able to do something as good as, or even better.

As soon as our own HoN forums opens we will be answering all your doubts.


Maybe what I will say now may sound phony, but I would love that instead of just looking askance at this action Axeso5.com and S2 Games are working on together, you would give us your full support so that we can make something that will change the gamer scene in Latin America, that will put a clear line between the past and the future, and this to be a positive change as we think will be.

Pensar que a primeira vez que eu vi um torneio de video game nunca pensei que algo assim seria feito na America Latina, e ver como o e-sport cresceu nesta região do planeta é algo incrível.

Muitos estão reclamando do IP Blocking, mas não pensão no que isso irá trazer, não só para a comunidade de HoN na America Latina mas para a Comunidade Gamer da America Latina. Eu gostaria que a comunidade de HoN da America Latina volte seus olhares no tempo, à um ano atrais para ser exato, e olhe a comunidade do sudeste asiático, S2 Games deu a eles a mesma oportunidade que estão nos dando agora a mesma oportunidade, algo que não muitas empresas de videogames fazem, e olhem o que aconteceu. HoN Garena bombou, tem quase tantos usuários como o serviço internacional, à grandes competências e torneios de HoN, e eu acredito que a comunidade do sudeste asiático e o trabalho que foi feto lá são um modelo a seguir, eu espero, não, eu acredito que vamos poder realizar um trabalho tão bom quanto ou ainda melhor que o que foi feito lá.

E quando nosso fórum de HoN abrir, vamos responder todas suas duvidas.

So basically that, he was answering some questions about a few users were making in a thread, and another future HoN Staff from Axeso5.com gave us some info for us to especulate with the tournaments...apparently they're planning something REALLY BIG but that's as much as we know.

It's not called a chance when you're forced to do it regardless of your will. I said it before and I'll say again, Maliken and whoever is in charge of these new servers DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PLAYERBASE WANTS, WHY? YOU ASK. BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT PLAYERS.

Also Latin players HATES playing with eachother if they're not IRL friends. Last week I was in a game with a friend friend from US, we lost the game
because we we're paired with 3 latino players that couldn't understand nothing in english at all, funny enough I tried talking with in portuguese and
they couldn't understand either. So now you guys are asking me to ditch my us friend that did a excellent job to go play in a server filled

Woa woa woa, THe option of wich server to use should be optional.. because I'm from Chile (latino america) and i have 0 lag problems. 0 communication problems. everything is perfect, and now i must deal with Portuguese talking people? An IP lock is, unfortunately, the only way to make this decision.

No, it's not. The same technique used to detect and block, can be used to detect and make the game display a different store, a differente language, etc etc etc, you don't need to split the networks to do that.

Hell, just get on youtube, they don't need to block me on youtube.com to make sure I'll see proper ads and sponsored content to my region and even block some content that's not allowed on my country.

I'm from Argentina and I find this actually fine, I can perfectly speak in english, however I find disturbing how much discrimination there's from american ppl. I simply don't care, since if this Axeso5 is **** I will simply quit for dota 2
