I know that complaining about the change won't help, since this is what happened with CIS as well. I am completely against it, as ALL my friends are from the US and now I won't be able to play with them.

Aside from that, what about sub-accounts? You split them for CIS, will this happen with LA, too? The reason I got a sub-account is that it was cheaper and purchases are shared, I don't have to buy stuff twice. Buy splitting them you will take that away from me as well, which I really don't appreciate at all.

-Latin America is just the term being used for the Region, exactly the same as CIS is used for that client even though not every country included is technically part of the CIS.

-Localized support means that they'll have support for whatever languages are needed for the region.

-The game itself is still developed by S2 Games so nothing changes on that front.

    - There will be more information about the future of international HoN eSports competitions in the near future.

-You have to remember that the Latin America client is not just Brazil. The full list of countries will be available in the future.

-Unfortunately, I don't have any info about the payment changes for the Latin America and Korea clients.
Answering with nothing but we already know, won't change anything.
Just answer what many are asking. It's pretty bad to know that you announced something and you have no answers for all those questions.

And what about forum access? Will I be able to see this forum? This is where I get all my mods from.

I honestly am not affected by this change but I can perfectly understand why it should kick up a fuss.

S2 have taken a wrong turn here, whole point of increasing the community/esports is kind of contradictory when teams are forced to play with only others in there "zone".

Not only this but s2 is basically breaking the current community and connections of US the players who have made many friends from all over the globe in order to try and attract a larger playerbase is specific areas.

The right choice would've been to support the current playerbase whilst adding support for those regions not segregating the current community even more, I think the esport community of HoN is quite utterly finished for the time being whilst games such as LoL is still running strong and even though Dota 2 is still in beta it's got a stronger esport community than HoN.

I have mixed feeling about this... region lock in any form is just wrong to me. but will be nice to know i have a team who i can ignore in english

By the way, by this anouncment, i see clearly that there is no clue i how to sell to latin markets work.

Does S2 have a latin american sales manager?

Heres an example that might better illustrate the concept of a team game...

    ME: USA
    4TM: USA
Result: We ping, we say things in english, we lose or win. We troll other team and call them trash.

Here is what you are proposing happens....

    ME(BLUE): USA
    OJ-BRAZIL
    TEAL: RUSSIA
    YELLOW: MEXICO
    PURPLE: ENGLAND

Blue is in MID. Purple is BOT. Top is OJ and TEAL. OJ feeds and doesnt ask for help or say anything for 15 minutes. TEAL doesn't ping or leave lane or help OJ. Bottom PURPLE asks me for help because Yellow is auto attacking... and pushing lane so far up that he can't even harass for a kill. Purple and I gank bottom and help each other out because we understand each other *HERE IT COMES* and we can communicate in our language and try to salvage this horrible game. 15 more minutes go by and we lose game... right before we CC at the 30 minute mark after being thumb down for 15 minutes OJ says in all chat... Team NOOB.

    OJ KDR 0-7-1.

Now as you can see from this example... which is what we pros deal with every day is that we can communicate with one member and thats great but guess what I never mentioned to my team mate about how I went on reddit and saw a post from XanderK. We played the game and lost and CC'ed. Thats how you play the game. You don't log on and start a chat session up and talk about the weather in Japan vs California.

    Be real.
    Be honest.
    Thank you.

    A mexican
    A Canadian
    An American
    A Philipino
    An Australian

this has been one of my many setups since i started playing and you know what? everyone speaks english, im sorry if you had bad experiences because you are not a social person, you probably rage and scream and people mute you, you probably play solo queu, and you know what? thats fine

But dont tell me that this is not a social game, because is just not about talking the same language is knowing the person you are laning with, how they play, how they think BECAUSE ITS A TEAM GAME

I know you are just a troll but still i cant let you made stuff like that Forever alone guy

    Be real.
    Be honest.
    Thank you

    necessarily? please be more ambiguous.
Where are the beta servers located?

-The game itself is still developed by S2 Games so nothing changes on that front.
I was asking about the DB.
Is this going to be managed by Axeso5 too? will the player info be available in the forums as always?
Are we still going to be using this forum?
Will it be possible to download replays from US players and viceversa?

    - There will be more information about the future of international HoN eSports competitions in the near future.
Ok, you wont answer that question.
But I would love your opinion, do you think that professional Latin american players should be allowed to play against teams from other regions?
Will they be able to practice versus US or Asia teams to test their metagames?

-You have to remember that the Latin America client is not just Brazil. The full list of countries will be available in the future.
I do remember that its not just Brazil. I would LOVE it if this didn't apply to me.
You know brazilian players are a lot, and I would dare say they are and will be the largest number in this new region.
But as I cannot prove that with HON numbers lets just say this, Brazil has aprox. the same population as THE REST of South America.
Add to this central america and you've got your new region.
With these numbers I dare say I will be playing with at least 4 portuguese speaking players out of 10, but enough rant.

Last question, Is the IP block required to secure the third party support?

    Thanks,

  9. #289
IP Blocking? what is this 1999? S2 Why you don't learn from your competition?

Riot Block IP's? No, they add servers if needed in the region.
Valve Block IP's? No, they add servers if needed in the region and give us the software tools to install our own server.

The only games I think use this kind of restriction are the most abysmal F2P games, seems like S2 want to be part of the big pile.

Con: You're no longer going to be able to play with your Mexican and Brazilian friends.

Pro: You're no longer going to have to play with Mexicans and Brazilians.

    OMG REALLY S2¿?¿?¿

I think you can get to do the same tournaments, but without blocking regions

  12. #292

  15. #295
I live in mexico, I can speak perfect fluent english, have better stats than most of the guys complaining about having to play with mexicans, brazilians, etc. Mostly play with friends from the united states.. even so, will I never be able to play in a north american server again?

Check a map, Mexico is in north America

  16. #296

You should see my face when I read that S2 thinks Mexico is not part of North of America

    My final honest opinion...

Before I am region blocked from US servers.

I want to first clarify that, I am not writing this as a complaint or because I "care" about being blocked. If I was unfairly asked to leave a restaurant, I would leave without kicking up a storm, because it shouldn't be me who's worried about staying but rather the establishment. If I leave it will be their loss, not mine, I can always have dinner somewhere else. Now with that clarified let me share my opinion with you as a gamer that is genuinely concerned for a company who's game I enjoyed for a long time:

I undoubtedly believe you are making the wrong choice. Blizzard, Valve, and most other big companies allow the players to gain the "benefits" of local servers and localized service but that is an optional choice. Because it is only reasonable to believe that in today's globalized society people have friends from all over the world who enjoy playing online games together, so "locking" regions should be something that's completely out of the question.

In fact, Blizzard even allows you to play in any region you want, at the cost of buying their game again. I don't know why S2 does not exploit this, charging something like $20 for access to other regions would be a reasonable price and I guarantee a lot of people would use this service.

I will not try to create imaginary facts like most emotionally distressed people (OMGZ S2 U WILL LOSE OVER 80% OF UR PLAYERS LIEK THIS!!) but I will try to tell you about my situation at least:

I live in Latin America, yet I have plenty of friends and family over at the US that I enjoyed playing HoN with. It was almost like a weekly tradition, friday, saturday and sometimes even sunday were HoN nights and we queued together with the sole intention to have fun. This will no longer be possible, because it seems S2 will just NOT shut up and take our money, they don't want it. And that's too bad because our weekly tradition will continue, just somewhere else, DOTA2 is an option. We didn't even LIKE DOTA2, we liked the changes in balance HoN had made, like the removal of the 0:00 rune and the secret shop, but right now it seems like we were forced to join the competition.

Now, Maliken, do you think it's unreasonable to believe that there will be a lot more people with a situation similar to mine? I don't think so, I sincerely believe, from reading replies and hearing other HoN players in my area, that a lot of us will be forced to move to DOTA2 or some other MOBA to play with our friends at the US. Seriously think about the money that will be lost, again I can't tell you for sure that it will be a large amount, but I can tell you it's probably a lot of players and money lost.

Me, my friends and family will unfortunately not be spending our money here any longer because you kicked us out, not because we wanted to. We will not be watching HoN news any longer because this game is no longer relevant to us, but regardless I still wish your game the best of luck and nothing but success.

Now, allow me to answer a few of the possible replies that will no doubt come from immature US players and trolls:

"This is better, we don't want to play with terrible Mexicans like you" - I cannot wait for this change to take effect and for you to realize that terrible players have no nationality, you will still rage and want to break your monitor at the terrible US players you will be paired up with.

"Language barrier is fixed like this" - Hi, I'm Latin American and as you can see I'm writing a large post with minimal English misuses. And, if S2 allowed for region swaps at a price of like $20, only people who knew English would be willing to spend the money.

"I hate Latin Americans, so I don't want you playing with us" - Good for you, now have a cookie and live happy stuck in such a closed mindset.

    Yours Sincerely,

-A passionate gamer and INDIE games supporter.
