It has more to do with providing local support and marketing for those areas.

I really hope you never do this for Africa (or at least not while we have our current tiny playerbase). I would much rather play on EU servers with 250 or even 400 ping than only being able to play with the small number of players on SA servers.
But for Korea and Latin America I think this is a good move
Local servers are going to be faster than farther servers? Lower latency, less packetloss, etc.
Won't actually affect me. I'm just happy SA HoN players will be taken care of. : )
R.I.P. Random gold 7-29-11
Remember, the reasons for these changes are found in the OP. They are not related to player skill or whether they speak a certain language. It's about improving their HoN experience and growing the scene in those areas. More HoN players is nothing but a good thing!
Again, please keep the Forum Rules in mind while posting here. There are many posts that are being removed for violating the rules. Disagreeing is fine but inappropriate language, trolling, spamming or defamation is not.
Even LoL lets you choose and switch among them at will.
I can expect the Latin American servers to be quite laggy, and the playerbase is going to be a mess.
Great, im from Argentina, i bought the game on beta, sponsored trough buying at that time(golden shield) and now, i get excluded? nice...
I know its a paint to play with guys from BRZ, but man... i hate them also... why i have to get this exclusion, me and all my AR friends... my US friends... etc...
This is great HoN, you keep going on the wrong direction.
Yeah... sure!!!! :sarcasm:
Put real servers there if you want to improve experience, and support the growing scene... make events... not exclude us in Garena like thing...
Seems this makes the finall decision... lets get Dota2....
I like to play in NA servers mainly for the competition, i know like 90%-100% english and i have never had problems when i communicate with others.
Seriously, People from Latin America playing hon (not garena) are like a 5% out of 100% of the active player base, you guys are literally forcing me to play the same pool of 1000 people AGAIN AND OVER AGAIN. .
I'm the clan leader of my clan, and in my clan there's people from Peru, Canada, USA and Mexico, AND WE ALL SPEAK ENGLISH this move will just make us stop playing this game completly.. i have spent $100 in this game
Real Talk
I like HoN better than Dota 2 because of a few reasons, but now? .......
I'm sorry. but im out of here as soon as this stupid greedy desicion happends.
The difference between LoL and HoN is that HoN uses different clients for their different regions, because things (mainly shop) are handled differently and by different companies - SEA region for instance used to have an option for a subscription based model where you automatically got new heroes afaik. SEA region also is handled by Garena, S2 is primarily supplying them with the client and updates to it from what I know.

I think the block is unnecessary. Just do it like the Garena SEA. Just separate the clients without US/EU block. SEA players can choose to play it locally or with internationally. Please S2, don't block them.
Choosing between the lesser of two evil, but in the end you still choose evil. Screw that, I want a third option.
If moderation is a fault, then indifference is a crime.
The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is that good men do nothing.
