How will I play with my Latin American friends?

  2. #42
So, in essence I'll be locked out of a game I play with friends nearly every day simply because I'm a military member who happens to be stationed in South Korea. Awesome.
I understand the desire to expand and since there is quite a few LA and Korean players localization and servers are mostly needed, however I truly don't get how sectioning off large portions of your playerbase can in any way be construed as expansion or growth.

Ah well too bad, I live in Mexico and my brother is currently living in the US. I guess we'll have to find something else to play on our free weekends... DOTA2 maybe.

That's too bad, I used to buy every EA hero and buy alt skins and whatnot, but if I'll be unable to play with friends and family living in the US there's no reason for me to ever touch HoN again. Time to uninstall.....

Same here i would like S2 say when we purchase the ****ing game they will lock Regions!

S2 should let Pre-order Accounts choose where wanna play!

Dear god thank you S2. Even if it was a long time coming, the end result is great. This will make the US servers so much more fun to play on.

$2 has lost all credibility. They have changed so many things from the early stages of Beta and now are just interested on making money... i guess their current income from their alt avatars rush isnt enough, afterall... S2 IS GROWING.

Dont get me wrong, i know its a business, but they are just making really bad decisions w/o paying attention on how the community is gona be affected.

    Thumbs up Region restricted

Well, I guess I won't be the first to speak about it, but can anyone tell my why did it happen. I understand that a lot of russian players weren't polite enough or maybe played not as good as others, but there are a lot of such players in other countries too, why would u restict russian? As for me, I always tried to be nice to people and hardly ever blamed anyone, and I bet there are a lot of russian players like me. By the way, I paid for this game to play with foreign players along with russian ones, as I enjoy chatting in English, and I learned a lot about this game by playing with such players, as they were really better. All I'm asking for is to let me play on EU servers again. Thank you in advance.

P.S. And I really wonder where is my account now? I bought it ages ago and now what? All I can do is post a message here

At least top games give you a choice to join any kind of server you want. On HoN you are obligated.

If you have not heard the news already, we have recently established partnerships that will bring Heroes of Newerth to Latin America and Korea in a greater capacity than ever before. With the help of Ntreev in Korea and Axeso5.com in Latin America, we are very excited to be releasing HoN in both of these regions within the next few months. We know that there are quite of few of you who are going to be affected by this change, so we just want to take a few minutes of your time to explain why this is a good thing and what types of benefits gamers in these regions will soon be able to take advantage of.

    What can you expect?

    • Local Servers: More servers means better connections and experiences for everyone. With localized versions of the game into Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean, we can offer a significantly better gaming experience.
    • Local Support: We are going to be establishing better lines of communication to players in Latin America and Korea by offering native tech support and help desk teams who can keep them playing HoN when it matters most.
    • Marketing & E-Sport: The Korean and Latin American competitive gaming scenes are about to find out what Heroes of Newerth is all about. We will be better able to reach out to gamers on a global scale and foster growth in the HoN community. Gamers in both regions can expect localized tournaments and prize pools that will dominate some of the most emergent E-Sport markets in gaming.
    • Local Language Support: Let's face it, HoN as a team based game is almost entirely decided by how well a team can communicate and effectively compete. By offering native support for Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese, the HoN experience is going to reach new heights for a lot of people.
    • Local Currency Support: Latin Americans in Mexico, Brazil, Peru, and over 20 other countries will be able to use their local currency to improve their HoN experience and in Korea it will be no different.
    What to Remember

There are always going to be a lot of questions about the future of HoN in these regions whenever we announce a major partnership like this and we want to clear those things up with you to get rid of as much confusion as possible. Below are a few clarifications to keep in mind:

    • HoN is still going to be developed by S2 Games. Ntreev in Korea and Axeso5.com in Latin America will distribute HoN and foster the growth of HoN's E-Sport and Marketing presence in both regions.
    • Once the game is fully released and no longer in beta, players in Latin America and Korea will no longer be able to play HoN on North American/European Union Servers. The transfer program will allow them to continue playing HoN by transferring all of their prior purchases and account credentials to local servers in their region.
    • Gamers in both regions will still be able to play the game using an English language option if they choose to do so.
    • Both regions will start providing HoN support by releasing Closed Beta Tests. Once the closed beta ends and the game enters Open Beta, gamers in each region can expect to see transfer programs that will allow them to transfer their account credentials over to their localized service without penalty. We will update more on this as each client gets closer to Open Beta status with full transfer programs in place. Korea is on schedule to enter Closed Beta within a few weeks, with Latin America following shortly thereafter. We will do our best to stay on that schedule, but these are both tentative release dates.
    • There is still much more to come in explaining how the Korean and Latin American transfer programs are going to work, but please be patient, because we are still working on developing both systems.
If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you ask those questions on this thread and this thread alone. We will do our best to answer your questions and update this thread throughout the week.

This makes me really sad... I (a Canadian now living in the US) was introduced to HoN by some awesome guys from Mexico that I game with. If I can't play with them in the future... see you later HoN.

I hated playing with Latin-american people as much as the next guy when they were rude and trash-talked / insulted the rest of their team in Spanish, but this move is beyond ridiculous.

I know many Mexican/Brazilian/Argentinan players who spoke english perfectly and played the game like everyone else, bought lots of coins and supported S2 throughout all this time. Latin-american people generally enjoy playing in NA servers because of the added challenge and many just enjoy playing a game in english with other english-speakers.

FORCING them to transfer is a kick in the nuts to the population that's fondest of your game. I doubt S2 will reconsider at this point, but really, shame on you for caving in to the majority of the whining. E-sports in Latin America blossom when there's the hope of competing with NA players too. Closing it to just Mexico/Brazil will kill the game in these areas for the most part.

Anyway, yes, I'm Mexican. I'm in the US. I've spent over $200 on this game, as have my friends. Some are from Mexico. All of them speak English. I feel guilty for bringing them into this game, and now seeing them quit over this action. My bad.

Faster servers? Its gona be exactly the same as if you were playing on US Servers. If its not then you must be playing from dial-up.
