I have a question about these rules right here, does that mean anyone can just ask a great artist to use his painting for a contest and if that person agrees,
you could just paste his great art next to some newerth concept art and call it a wallpaper? (Happened a lot in an earlier contest if i'm not mistaken.)
Also, traditional art has a way better chance to beat digital art if it's good, it's way easier to raise textures, cool effects, etc. with traditional.
Great trad' artist who could kick any digital artist's butt; http://www.jeremygeddesart.com/paintings.html
Sigh, again, no. While I don't know how those running the contest are going to judge, I seriously doubt traditional will have any prevalent advantage over digital and the other way around. Both are just tools, both have their own effects, their own advantages and disadvantages. You can't judge a piece of artwork based on what tools were used, you judge it based on how well it was done and thought out.
While Jeremy Geddes is a really, really impressive traditional artist, I don't think you know many great digital artists if you think he could blow any of them out of the water. Of course it all depends on the look you prefer, but there are plenty of mainly digital artists out there who would rival Geddes in terms of technique and skill. Just a few for example; http://algenpfleger.blogspot.com/ , http://www.hgjart.com/gallery.asp , http://www.artsammich.blogspot.com/ , http://www.artoflevi.com/.

Yeah, you're right. That was quite a stupid way of putting it, I just find it really annoying when people say that traditional art doesn't have an equal chance in contests, challenges, artistic technique in general and I did really make it sound like I felt it would in some way be easier to win with traditional artwork. So, excuse me for that.
Also, irrelevant, but I do think Jeremy could best all of those mentioned when it comes to realism within art.![]()
It's okay, I didn't really want to start another one of those discussions either haha, it just sounded a bit odd to me. Geddes specializes in photorealistic surrealism, so he's kind of supposed to beat them in that area. Though Hannes (algenpfleger) gets pretty damn close. As far as understanding of light, color, structure and composition goes though, all of the artists listed really are masters of the trade.
hello i posted this in Cosplay General question as a General quesiton, but i think no one is going to answer there, so here i go..
i have a question with the art Contests, it says "Art: Your submissions should be in some way related to the 2nd HoN-iversary Celebration!" but in this thread http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/sh...-Planning-2012 you guys are asking for ideas for this Aniversary... so how can i draw something related with this aniversay if u are still asking for ideas ?? i was thinking to draw some Hon characters celebrating a birthday, im afraid if i draw somthing like "X heroe Vs X heroe" im not going to Win
Sorry for my english, is really bad, hope u guys understand![]()
The 2nd HoN-iversary is an implied subject for this contest for you to focus on in anything you create for the ART portion of this contest. While in the thread you had mentioned, we were fielding planning ideas for the anniversary event itself, we didn't mean to suggest that our judgement of this contest will be affected by it. The relation of your work to the subjects contained in the "planning" thread will not be a deciding factor in the way your work is judged. We are simply asking the most passionate members of the HoN community to have some fun and celebrate our 2nd HoN-iversary with us through this contest.
Ok i've done a video right, how do i post it on the thread, through a youtube link? and wouldn't that cause a loop hole for people just pasting other people's work. thanks.
Video time!
Let's see if we can create something awesome ;D
Does it HAVE to be hon-iversary themed? I am kinda almost done and I just found out you changed the theme from hon-iversary/anything to just hon-iversary.![]()
I've got a question about the rules.
If I were to submit a video for the contest, I would not be allowed to upload it to my own youtube channel untill the competition is over. But when the competition is done and the winners have been announced I would be allowed to upload it to my channel?
How come we have the push when I'm auto-attacking? -Jacoz
You can by all means post your video to your personal YouTube channel. Actually, the simplest way to enter into the contest is to post your video to your YouTube channel and link the video URL in your submission
For those of you who started working on your art before we made our edit to the contest, we wont disqualify you for creating something that is not related to the HoN-iverary. If you are submitting your own quality work that appears to have taken a lot of forethought and time on, we will definitely consider your work for prizing.
Please post your videos using a link from youtube or other trusted video hosting site. We are trusting that you submit your own work. Don't post a video if you didn't make it!
We do not want people submitting work that is not their own. Everyone deserves a shot at winning this contest for their own hard work and we discourage any abuse of those terms. Also, we like both Traditional Art and Digital Art here at S2![]()
So, I'm guessing the submissions aren't viewable? The submission forums are empty so... i dunno, just curious.
Thanks for the reply i was just making sure how to submit and that people don't submit someone else's work.
If the video is on YouTube, doesn't that mean that we kind of "have the permission" of using the music that's included? Because otherwise it gets taken down in like an hour.
Hello ! i made a Desktop wallpaper as my entry !!, but i have a Question, can i use ur "S2 Games" and "Heroes of Newerth" logos to use on my wallpaper ??
I don't understand now , sorry for my english , is really bad
