Thanks for the clarification Diva, happy to know I can potentially pick up some of the avatars I missed at some point!

The idea of gold avatars being re-released ever for any amount of gold coins is bullshit. They are a status symbol which show how long you have been playing this game and were released and sold under the billing that they were ONE TIME ONLY AVAILABILITY.
S2 stop with this money grab crap and have some respect for your players. At least now I don't have to spend gold coins on future gold avatars now that I know they aren't exclusive anymore......

This is so sad on so many levels, to be honest. S2 can't seem to keep any promises they make and community goes wild on everything, though S2 totally asked for this by their actions since.... ever.
Who would want the gladiator skin anyway? Thug Gladiator all the way.
What is truly sad is that S2's excuse for disrespecting their patrons is essentially their own poor production and distribution in the first place, which really all falls back to piss poor public relations skills.
One day they'll learn and if they don't, they'll be gone. They don't have a very good reputation as it stands now and they're going to be forced to turn it around somehow once DotA 2 reaches retail (not because DotA 2 is necessarily a better game but because the company behind it treats its customers fairly).
Um, so for the limited edition like golden pebbles S2 isn't gunna be pathetic and make it available for purchasing with silver coins as well?
I've spent tons of money on this game at least 5 $40 coin packages, if not more, but wow do I feel suckered. I've come to the same conclusion as you. I wanted to collect all the alts (yes all), but I'm done. No more money.
Let me liken this to the nerdiest example ever: http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=magic/products/reprintpolicy
EA's a joke, etc.

Blue is sarcasm.
Red is super serious.
My 2 cents, again.
S2 is a company and companies are free to do with their products as they please as long as customers buy them. To be honest, they didn't even have to write up such a clarification, becouse they owe you nothing. No, not even if you payed 30 $ for the game 2 years ago.
No, they don't have to hold their word.
Yes, they can re-release stuff they previously labeled as never again available.
Yes, they can lie to you if they so choose and you'll have to either live with it or quit playing. Edit: or sue them for that matter; if you do, let us know how it went
Sure, it's not the nicest move, but you can expect the same things from Valve, Riot and many other companies. Seriously - do you really expect that spending 2+ weeks (my uneducated guess) on manufacturing an alt avatar - or a hat for that matter - they will only sell it for a week and then toss it in the garbage bin?
HoN has been recently growing and gaining popularity, so i guess the sales department figured out that even if 1000 people quit playing HoN becouse someone else will have the same precious alt avatar as them and/or they "were lied to", there will still be 5.000 new players who won't give a damn and buy it, thus bringing in new money and profit.
Go on, go play Dota 2. But if you sincerely believe that Valve will never "screw over" it's customers in such a way, you better be prepared for some harsh lessons in real life business tactics.

They did it because some people might have not bought the alt because of bad effects, hence missing out on it now when its updated.
I don't think they did it to be gready this time.

They have always reported Garena in the total.
It was quite a few months ago that the online UI element had a hover over to show internation+SEA split and when CIS Garena went live it also had a unique entry.
S2 didn't suddenly decide to report Garena players in the total.
There has been a general upward trend in the number of online players, sure there maybe a lion share from Garena territories (although it hasn't been quantified), this doesn't change the fact it has increased.

He mentioned under any circumstances they shouldn't be re-released.
That very clearly says that they can be re-released under "special circumstances" aka updating an avatar months it came out to put it up for sale again.Afterward, they will be made unavailable indefinitely and will only be re-released under special circumstances (as with Gladius' effects rework).

I think one of the problems that most people have with what S2's doing is that companies used to respect their customers. A company is nothing without its customers and S2 isn't showing much respect.
Common misconception: not all companies behave like S2. I've said it before and I'll say it again: don't lump Valve in with S2. Valve owns Steam and if you have looked at any kind of statistics about Steam, you'll notice that they know how to treat their customers right. It has nothing to do with HoN vs. DotA 2. They have a consistent growth every year in purchases simply because they know how to behave like a thankful company and their customers appreciate it.Sure, it's not the nicest move, but you can expect the same things from Valve, Riot and many other companies.

That sounds to me like they can be re-released.

Why make new skins when you can sell your trademark gold avatars for $$$ with just a minor rework?
I've supported S2 with around 200 euros so far and I don't mind if other people have all the avatars that I have. What I do find disgusting is that I've payed gold coins for limited avatars because I couldn't get the silver in time.
I won't say anything dramatic like "I quit the game forevar!111!" but I will assume from now on that any limited avatar is not limited at all and not spend any gold coins ever again.
Fair's fair.
So the community misunderstood "limited"
Limited = indefinitely. This is horse-****.
