I'm seriously sick of waiting ages and ages and ages for games in HON.
As someone who has always thought HON was a far superior game I am finding myself playing DOTA 2 more and more for one simple reason: when I queue up in Dota 2, it doesn't take 20 minutes to find a game.
I have spent over 2 hours in queues today across two groups. One of the groups was an average of 1550 with no more than 150 MMR spread from the lowest (1490) to the highest (1640). The queue I'm currently in is 18 minutes in and we range from 1631 to 1702, with 5 people.
I simply cannot understand what kind of garbage algorithm is used to match people in this game when I can solo queue and be matched with people literally 250 MMR in difference from me but cannot 5 man queue at 1550 and find a game.
DOTA 2 has 1/4th the number of people online at any given time compared to HON and finds games instantly, even when I queue with friends of mine who are highly ranked.
I think I spend over half of my time with the HON client open while in queue. It's a ****ing waste of time. I suppose that since 1600+ MMR already puts you in the top 20% of players and that since S2 refuses to ever reset MMR (since they sell resets individually) there is no way in hell this lack of balance in the matching system will ever be addressed.
The solution to playing HON and enjoying yourself appears to be this: "be bad as ****." If you're not lower than 1500 it takes hours across the course of a day to find the games you are playing in. I guess that just reflects S2's business model, which has always been to cater to the lowest common denominator.
