TO MODELERS! What program are using to make them ?

Hello. I want to start learning how to make models and when I do I wanna use them as mods for heroes.
What I want to know is.
Which program do you use ? 3DS Max , Blender ?
Do you know any good tutorials for beginners ?
I m asking here because I want to learn specific things in order to make models for HoN. Thanks in advance.
