Seems there is rumors going around that Valve is bring out a PC-Based Gaming Console.
The Verge speculates that Valve’s console would feature upgradable hardware that used biometrics in some way along with a proprietary controller that let you swap out components depending on game type. Valve filed a patent for just such a controller last year./discuss.The basic specs of this Steam Box were a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GPU, the report said.

it IS a hat, and a console, and it has a hat on top of it, and you must purchase it from the hat fortress
I remember arguing with a friend over PC vs. Consoles, and then he asked "What if a PC was a console?" and I was at a loss for words for at least 15 seconds.
As long as they don't end up tweaking things to a point where they make "console"-specific games.

i hope it actually goes through and doesn't fizzle out.
SUGGESTIONS:
Change Alternate Avatar in game (Only once!) or set a "default" skin to be used (be it current "default" or an alternate avatar!)

I think I'd rather my PC.
Seems like it's meant to be a console with Pc specs, but what'st the point if you're still using a crappy console controller. Kb/M ftw and if it doesn't have upgradeable hardwhere it's going to be pretty annoying. Though I heard it might.
I hope they stick to mouse+keyboard.
RTS games suck with console controllers and FPS games are ****ing horrid to aim. And I hope it'll be affordable. But I doubt considering the specs. It'll be more closer to a PC price than console.
Am I the only person that doesnt have trouble aiming with thumbsticks?
And typically consoles are the most powerful computers around when they are released, especially for the price. The 360 was a tricore way back in 2006 or whatnot. Dual Cores were just getting popular back then
Interesting for the casual consumer.

The "average PC gamer" purchasing a pc at the same time as a console will still have a better system. Were talking like 1.2 to 2k dollars on the build. Consoles perform better with extremely small OS'S for strictly gaming uses. But having something that you can't upgrade or multitask with drives me crazy.
the xbox 360 was released in 2005 for 400 dollars
what computer that you could build in 2005 had a tricore processor for 400 dollars?
people were still buying single core pentium 4's at this time.
the PS3 had a blu-ray player for 500 bucks when a blu-ray player at the time was over 1 grand.
Yeap for gaming performance console definitely over run your average pc user for the first 2 years unless your willing to shell out the big dollars. But it doesn't take long for them to get terribly outdated an it still isn't worth the lack of mouse support an other things you can do on a pc. Even tho that im saying this I will most likely buy the xbox 720 so I don't need to upgrade my pc for awhile for graphically immersive games.
I'd rather spend the money on upgrading my existing PC, rather than some sort of mini-pc that can only run steam.
