    Buzzing noise under Options-->Sounds

Not sure if this is the correct section of the forum, but there's a weird buzzing sound when I try to adjust the sounds. I just got my mic working and reinstalled HoN, was there something wrong with the installation? I never had this problem before, it just started when I reinstalled HoN.

    Any replies will be appreciated.

So, you are saying that if you go to the sound tab under options, your game starts to hum?

What operating system are you running?

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I recently installed new drivers (RealTek) so my microphone headset would work, so now my mic finally works. Then, I wanted to reinstall HoN, did that, and the noise came along.

I want to say that installing the driver is related to this issue, but it just doesn't make any sense to me. The noise is generated specifically when the sound tab is chosen. I don't have the issue with any other HoN interface function. The sound instantly disappears when I click another tab.

If there is any other information I can provide, please ask me. I realize this is a very minor issue but I appreciate the help ^^.

/edit The driver installed and program used is "Realtek HD Audio Manager" if that helps. Also, the program was installed before I reinstalled HoN. I speculate there's an issue with the program/driver I installed and HoN, but I have no idea what.

What are the choices you have under output devices? What about recording devices?

This seems really odd because selecting the "Sound" tab shouldn't produce any sound at all, let alone a humming noise.

Outside of that tab does it hum ingame? Like when using your microphone?

I haven't actually tested my microphone ingame, I will try to play a game tomorrow night and test it out to see if there's noise or feedback. Choices for output devices and recording are as follows: speakers, digital output, digital output (optical) and microphone. I use the speakers and microphone exclusively.

It does not hum on the main page or any other pages (store, match history, etc).

Just tested a replay...no noises there. I will add another reply once I play a match tomorrow night.

Oh wow, I thought I was the only one! I will play a match in about an hour or so, see if the noise shows up in game too.

/edit Okay just played 45 minute normal 5v5 caldavar match, no hint of buzzing/humming whatsoever. My mic didn't seem to bother anyone or cause odd noises when I pressed the PTT key. I have to assume there's something wrong strictly with the sound options tab, might be a software issue?

Yup, this happens under the OS X client as well. On OS X it is tied to the interface volume, but it appears that everything is running through that channel.

It is a bug with the "Unit Voice Reaction Delay" slider in the Sound tab. If you click and hold the slider button or move it away from the default 4000ms it stops. Noticed this some months ago, never bothered to look into it though. Didnt think it would go unnoticed for so long.

Thanks Riddie for explaining where that noise comes from! And thanks Control for looking into this bug, you've been very communicative.

I don't know if this is related but until last patch, 2.5.12, I've heard a very low-pitched buzzing sound while in game, mostly in game but also in the lobby. It would change if I zoomed in or moved from one part of the map (Forests of Caldavar), to another (getting louder, higher/lower-pitched etc). I still hear a low-pitched sound when HoN is running though, just not as much now as in pre 2.5.12. If I tab to my desktop, it disappear. Not running anything else than HoN.
