Are you being sarcastic? It's hard to tell. Winning an entire tournament to barely get enough gold coins for 2 alt avatars. Do you honestly expect this to draw in legitimate competition? It'll draw a few 1600 pubstar teams to play a few organized games (which is fine if that's all it's seeking to accomplish) but I would be legitimately surprised if it managed to do anything else.

The tournament is open for everyone, including "1600 pubstar" teams. It`s goal is to provide an alternative to teams randomly looking for scrims and put this in more organised matter instead - and it`s goal - getting the mid-high skilled part of the competitive scene a place to show themselves is currently being accomplished.

Considering those tournaments will be hosted frequently - at least once per week and provide opportunities for both scrimming and getting some coins, as well as getting shoutcasted live, i don`t really see why the negativity from the community side.

Don't misinterpret what I said as negativity, just responding to the statement that it'll 'revitalize the scene', because it won't. There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving mid-tier teams an outlet to compete in, and infact it's a good step to encourage average players to start playing on a more competitive organized level.

Coins is just a really poor prize that's all. Even (comparatively) small cash prizes would draw in much more competition. I could be wrong on this, but it's hard to bring your A-Game to something when you don't even care if you win or lose, and 'pride factor' isn't really much of a goal when you're talking about no-name teams. It just doesn't really seem to appeal to anybody.

As for my own resources, i already offer my private time organising the event, to-be series of events. Phil The_Thrill offered to sponsor some coin prize (big thanks for that), if anyone else is willing to sponsor cash prizes for the tournament i`ll gladly add it to the prizepool.

The fact that a few community members from a random clan want to organize a competition and manage to get some prizes should be a bit more appreciated. Not everyone can afford to give people real money on a weakly base, but at least we can do is ask S2 to give us virtual money (aka Goblin Coins, more commonly known as Gold coins) that is purchased by real money. So instead of giving you the real money we are giving you a coupon for goods in a certain store (in this case Goblin Store). Instead of whining about the prize pool please enroll in this tournament and win it. Some people cannot afford to buy stuff in this store for some reason or cant make a purchase of those coins for other reasons and this is the way they can win it.

About no-name teams. Almost every team starts as a random pub/no-name. In order to rise they need a competitive scene. This cup is the 1st cup we are organizing. Maybe it will encourage no-name teams to became a renowned teams later on and pride comes with that.

For all that think this is a waste of time think again. Isnt this the easy way to rise your average scrimming (with nothing to gain except win/loss or some skill) to a higher level where you are given a motive to play a bit more serious so u could maybe win a (at this point) symbolic prize worth some gold?

I think most people don't realize that competing is great fun. I don't expect to earn anything from playing HoN, because I'm not that good. If there is a tournament with cash prizes, like the Kingston HoNoR Tournament or the fnatic RaidCall tournament, all the top teams will sign up, so my team wont win any money. Still, we sign up and compete, because it's a way to get better and have fun. If there is a tourney with smaller prize pots, like gold coins, I'll have a better shot at winning, because the top teams wont sign up. That means I'll have a good shot at actually winning something, so why wouldn't I sign up? :--)

Tl:dr: Compete to get better and have fun, not for the prizes.

Damn that's like 1.5 alt avatars per player for first prize!!!

I realize it's about the spirit but S2 should be willing to pony up more than 1.5 ****ing avatar's worth of gold.

it`s better to cry that the prizes are low than actually give them a shot and try winning them

suprise, without participating in this tournament you`ll be able to buy ZERO avatars

also, as everyone knows, this is all about the money, who cares about spending an evening playing new potential scrim buddies and just having fun with it

on topic : clan 352n Gaming - please add at least 2 players before i can accept your signup, thanks

How often will you be setting up these tournaments, and for how long?

its a one day cup from the concept, depends how much coin will s2 be able to put, as for me i could host them at least once per week, of course more staff would help so dont hestitate if you can offer some help organising!

so far tourney is smooth, semifinals atm: BxF vs dCto and iPel vs TBA
