Yes
No
Lately we have had quite a few drastically changed avatars for heroes. There are two reasons for opposing such total make-overs.
1. Re-skins takes away the original graphical design concept of a hero, rather than putting original design in another context of design.
2. It eventually blocks up designs for upcoming hero graphical concepts.
CLARIFICATION:
1. Removing original concept entirely makes the hero feel totally slippery IMO, and not as serious. If instead a hero is put in a different style - you keep the original feel of the hero - yet adding more (example: Winston Charmadon).
2. Take the example of Bloodhunter -> Bloodhunter shark avatar. There might have been a man-shark hero in the future - now all we got is a blood hunter in shark's clothes.

List of blocked future concepts:
-Man-shark (Bloodhunter avatar)
-Scorpion Magmus (Magmus avatar, although it is awesome. Either Magmus or the Lava-scorpion concept is unecessarily wasted depending on which you prefer).
-Shenlong (Myrmidon avatar, "Chinese dragon concept" taken)
-Hillbilly Brawler (Drunken Master, even though this skin shouldn't be considered by anyone IMHO).
-Dwarven Sniper (Flint avatar; come on, you can make a sniper-orc just aswell..)
-Logger Legionairre (Legionairre avatar, can't really see this concept picked up by a new hero though, but perhaps it could have).
-Phoenix Ra (Amun-Ra avatar, horribly blocks phoenix concept for upcoming heroes).
-Kangaroo Panda (Panda avatar, Kangaroo concept blocked, even though it's a good skin)
-Mounted Dwarf thingy (Tundra avatar, semi-blocks a ram IMO).
-Zeus (Thunderbringer avatar, obviously blocks the god zeus spot - however awesome&oldschool skin this is, I would rather see a new hero with that concept).
So, even though you guys like the skins above - I think most of you would rather have heroes with these concepts added - while your avatars should be more a modification of your original hero.
EDIT: About the horsemen avatars: Most of them are fine IMO, but they really could have put the actual Sand Wraith upon that mount for Famine and so on.
EDIT2: Idea from THIS thread.

Bump.
Eh. S2 is proving that they are quite capable of making a huge variety of skins while pumping out new heroes with different themes.
Not to mention that I think it's kind of the point to have a drastic change in a hero's skin. It adds to the quality/creativity of the skin and certainly brings its appeal much higher.
Some skins are based on the hero's counterpart in DotA, such as Scorpion Magmus and Dwarven Sniper. Makes sense to add those.
And with some of your other examples:
Phoenix Ra: Ra uses fire as a source for magic damage, has an aura to show that he is burning, AND has rebirth. A phoenix is just an absolute perfect match for him.
Shenlong: With Draconis, I think they don't need to spend time thinking about how to make more dragon heroes for a long time. Just saying, I think one dragon is enough, at least as a full-blown hero concept.
Hillbilly Brawler: I would hate for there to ACTUALLY be a hero who's concept was based on him being a hillbilly.
Thor (Zeus was in DotA, but in HoN it is actually Thor): Anywho, same concept with DotA-to-HoN counterparts, but just a change in terms of mythologies. Again, with a hero who strikes the whole enemy team with lightning, I couldn't think of a hero that would be more deserving of this skin.
So, I think S2 is doing a great job, and just adding skins that really suit the heroes given to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_(mythology)
Now, Ra the Sun God is represented by a phoenix in certain iconographies. Ra in the lore of HoN though...
Ra and phoenixes go hand in hand, however I would rather have Ra as the original skin than a phoenix. The phoenix is far too overdone and to be honest, it doesn't look all that good in the HoNiverse.
So I'm going to ask you a similar question:
Yes. In this special case - why even make the Phoenix-skin? Why wasn't he made an Immortal Sun God originally?

What i dont get is that you are tired of complete reworks (?) when it comes to alts, but in the poll you say that you want more of them. SO what am i supposed to be believing now?
Your first statement here pwns me. But your second one, "why even make phoenix skin" agrees with me. My point is exactly this - why make 2 entirely different (more or less) graphic concepts for the same hero, when you can make 2 different heroes with the concepts instead - while making avatars with original concepts modified to look slighty different?
No I'm not disgreeing with you. But saying that the ideas are running out are a bit silly. Such as the phoenix/Ra example.
Would I have wanted a Scorpion hero? Yes why not.
And why should it be restricted to Magmus? There can be many different scorpions and designs. It doesn't limit anything really, in fact you just open more doors.

Nono, in the thread name you say "Make less re-skins", but in the thread you say "Make more re-skins". You can just go and try to make interesting alts for heroes when they arent reworks. An example would be as listed above Phoenix Ra. I think the alt fits way better in the game than the actual model, and i feel like this with many many and tons of many alts. Examples are:![]()
![]()

(flaming) :jera: and lots of more.
For panda, i think his alt is awesome because it just feels more right to play with it or against it.
For Voodoo... Well, its a ducking raptor. Ofc raptors fit better into the role of voodoo than a mexican.
For Martyr a female priestess or prophet or whatever she is just looks better than a old pedo.
And for Deadwood, the flaming wood guy just looks like a ****ing boss.
And last but not least, a dark paladin for Jere also looks marvelous.
I guess it is just the wrong word that you used, but still. It left me pretty doubting etc etc.
people will continue to buy skins and they can make them without having to worry about the community's reaction.
