What item to buy before you die trick?

First, if you bought wards with the intention of selling them, i want to punch you in the face. They are pretty much the only things that are very strictly limited by their numbers, and selling them wont raise the counter back up.

Second, as aforementioned, the ONLY way to resell "fresh" items while being dead is via courier. Stash will be disabled for the time youre are dead.

heh, you can punch me anywhere you like, those wards would've been in the shop for the whole game, if it wasn't for my emergency purchase... One does not simply ask the support to buy wards in <1500

Selling them does raise the counter again, not sure if it does after the re-sell for full price grace time, but definitely does in that period.

The best thing about the guides in the shop is how easy it is to buy before you die. Just make sure you have a guide with items you will be getting. If you think you are about to die just press "B" to bring up the shop. You can then right click on any item you can afford or a recipe with a item in it that you can afford.

For example if you have 480 gold and you have bought your red booties already, if you are about to die and right click the steam boot icon in the guide it will automatically buy the 450 gold armband so you only lose 30 gold on death.

If you only have a couple hundred gold then buying tp stones is always good as people mentioned. I would say that the past month more than 80% of my deaths where I had 135 or more gold I was able to buy before I died. Once you get in the habit its really fast and ez and saves tons of gold. A lot of times Ill buy and not even end up dying so its not like it distracts you from trying to juke or stay alive.

Ah right. It doesnt raise the counter after the grace time, but it does during it, so np there.

NOTE:
As of last patch you can no longer sell items even from courier while dead. So buy something useful (tp stones very handy when under 500g).

AngryTestie used to do this on his stream, pretty sure that's why you can't do it anymore. he did it a couple of days ago and it didn't work, poor Testie

There's a lot of misinformation in this thread, so I had to log in and set it straight.

YOU CANNOT SELL ITEM'S FROM YOUR STASH WHEN YOU ARE DEAD.

Is that clear? The item's are greyed out and I believe the "resell grace" is instantly lost on death, so buying back and selling or respawning fast enough still doesn't help.

The trick still applies though, but you have to buy items you actually need (I often spam teleport scrolls if I have a low amount of gold, since they're always necessary). Learning some basic hotkeys to get into parts of the shop (Accessories, Legendary etc) are really helpful so you can get close to buying a good item. Alternatively, making your own guide with items you'll buy on that hero works too.

You can sell items while dead, however this trick doesn't work anymore as the full refund period now ends as soon as you die (as you wrote) and only items with that mark can be sold while dead.
