I read on these forums a trick about buying an item before you die that you can resell? So you don't lose any money... does this still work? What item is it?
lol, well say you have 2150 gold you buy pk then you die and then go to courier and resell none lost but thats hard like if you have like 750 spam pots or something

You can sell from your OWN stash while you're dead, ctrl-shift-rightclick

In normal mode, you lose some gold when you die. To make sure it doesn't happen, you can try to buy items which doesn't require recopies and sell them after you are dead but within 15 sec. That way you don't lose any gold.
It's a real life saver sometimes, especially early game. Very useful is to know some certain keyboard shortcuts for shop, bottle for example (BRR). That's 600 gold "safe". Or another one easy to remember - BRT and you can keep spamming T for as long as you have gold.
It's for those moments you know you are dead (stunlocked for 2 minutes etc) or you have lethal DOT on you.
And yes, you can sell items while dead, from your stash, as mentioned above.
There's a lot of misinformation in this thread, so I had to log in and set it straight.
YOU CANNOT SELL ITEM'S FROM YOUR STASH WHEN YOU ARE DEAD.
Is that clear? The item's are greyed out and I believe the "resell grace" is instantly lost on death, so buying back and selling or respawning fast enough still doesn't help.
The trick still applies though, but you have to buy items you actually need (I often spam teleport scrolls if I have a low amount of gold, since they're always necessary). Learning some basic hotkeys to get into parts of the shop (Accessories, Legendary etc) are really helpful so you can get close to buying a good item. Alternatively, making your own guide with items you'll buy on that hero works too.
Can someone confirm this ? I think i remember being able to sell from stash even when you are dead. Don't know if it has been changed or not.
As Neru is pointing out, the sell back grace period is instantly revoked, which is kinda lame if you quick buy and misclick. I think you shouldn't lose the gold until you revive to avoid this trick being only allowed for those with great twitch reflexes.
Just buy wards, always useful and better than losing gold for nothing.

While this is all true, it should be noted that buying and selling from courier works on full price. Just double tested both in practice mode and in game. So if you have a courier in town feel free to waste all your money on worthless junk and sell it after you die.

if you have shitty supports not buying wards, and youre gonna die anyway, clearly and by far wards are the best 'investment'.
its pretty instinctive for me, if im gonna die for example with 500 gold in pretty early game, i'll buy a vestment and ward, or a tp. sometimes when i dont need anything and i die with 400 gold i buy 3 tps, and people ask 'why the **** do you have so many tps?', well im gonna buy them anyway, so might as well do that while reducing my gold lost on death to like 20.
happened to me once that i lost the game because of this, trying to quickly buy an item which im not used to, and buying a pretty big (wrong) item and then dying, thus losing lots of gold since you cant resell it. but you get used to it and make less mistakes.
You know, I'm all confused now, because just yesterday I panic bought all the wards before I died (lost 100ish gold to death), and when I was to sell the wards, I couldn't do it!
In my earlier post I was certain you could sell "fresh" items while being dead, because I remember myself doing it. However, now I have my doubts... ninja patch? Certain items you can and can't sell? What? :S
First, if you bought wards with the intention of selling them, i want to punch you in the face. They are pretty much the only things that are very strictly limited by their numbers, and selling them wont raise the counter back up.
Second, as aforementioned, the ONLY way to resell "fresh" items while being dead is via courier. Stash will be disabled for the time youre are dead.
