Dreamteam Challenge

This is entry #1 in what I hope is going to become a fun contest for hero designers and creative minds.

In this contest you aren't just going to design heroes, but rather design a team of heroes. So yes - you will be making 5 heroes for this contest. But don't worry, you don't have to do this alone. You may band together with one other person to participate and design your 5 heroes as a team of 2.


The general rules that apply:

• No joke heroes/teams.
• Stay simple - If your skill can't be explained in a simple manner, then it probably isn't good, so think about what you really want to achieve, and focus on that, rather than "fluffing" up your skill with mechanics that aren't necessary. You won't be doing yourselves or me any favors.
• Try to create a strategy for your team. As possible as it is to just pick 5 random heroes and win a game, HoN is still based around teamplay and strategy. Try to incorporate that into your designs. If you want a pushing team, make heroes that support that strategy. If you rather want to have a team that focuses on ganking and teamfights, then well, create a team surrounding that. Don't try to force anything though - just because you want to make a pushing team doesn't mean every hero has to have 4 skills related to that.
• Try to explain your thoughts on your own heroes and what strategies you want to follow. It helps people that are trying to help you, and it makes it easier for me to judge your designs.
• Inter-Hero Synergy, thematicaly linked concepts (make an Earth/Fire/Wind/Water and Love based hero for instance) and originality will earn you bonus points.
• Yes, you MAY use your old hero concepts and use them for the Dreamteam Challenge. Just be sure to develop them so they fit into your line-up.
• You can create one thread per hero, just be sure to make a thread including links to all your 5 heroes and a short explanation of the concept of your team. The title of that thread should include [DTC-1] and will be linked in this thread. NOTE: Only use the [DTC-1] tag for the thread including the links to all your heroes, your individual heroes shouldn't have that tag.
• Be sure to write the names of everyone working on your team in your summary thread.
• Here you can find an example line-up with a short explanation of the strategy, and 4 heroes with synergizing abilities.

Now if you're wondering: Why would I ever make the effort of creating 5 heroes for a contest?
Each winner will receive a 30$ coin package while the second place team gets 10$ each. So maybe that's enough reason for you to try and win this contest.

Judging:

Each hero can earn you up to 50 points as follows

• Up to 10 points can be given per skill, so you get up to 40 here. These 10 points include originality and simplicity.
• Then there's 5 points for hero "integrity", depicting how well the heroes skills work with each other and how well they fit his role.
• Then there's 5 points for balance. Every hero starts with 5 of these, but grievous mistakes can cost you some of them.

Then there's another 50 points to be earned in your team "overview" category.

• 25 of these will come from hero synergy - if you have multiple heroes that work well together, you will earn points here.
• Another 25 of these will come from your teams strategy and how well it can be executed.
• Balance issues arising from how multiple skills of your heroes work together can cost you up to 10 points in this category.

So in total, there's 300 points for you to earn.

Entries for the contest will close on the 27th of April, then judging will commence.

Yes, each one gets a 30$ coin package. It's not a shared pool because I don't want to discourage teamwork (that would be odd considering the contest).

Umm. I dont quite get how to get the "excellence" criteria for synergy as just any combination of heroes with a stun, slow, whatever can potentially gank. Well you know what i mean.

Think of Flux + Engineer. Or Warbeast + KotF/Tempest.

Anyone can make set-up stuns and follow ups, and that will give you some points, but you can earn a lot more if you are more creative/inventive.

Yeah. 2 hero synergy is easy as every hero in the game can synergize with some/most heroes or even have abit effective synergy like the ones above. Having 5 heroes that synergise all together is...

Well one hero like Valk has an Ult which can synergizes with his whole team, regardless of the allied heroes.

So you want us to create 5 heroes that follow an original theme and compliment each other in someway.

Like Flux, Behe, Tempest, Glacius, Soul Stealer. Or Chronos ult
this team of 5 heroes excel at initiation, heavy aoe damage and aoe disable and with precise timing they can annihilate a team easy.

You don't have to have 5 heroes that synergize perfectly well with each other. It's perfectly fine for one hero to synergize really well with one other hero and not as much with the rest.

Anyway, still looking for somebody to 'work' with me on this project.
Currently working on a hero that is a jungler with gank and push potential (got the main skill done).

Anti-Backdoor isn't really a strategy. It's something you can plan to counter, but you don't plan on focusing your whole gameplay around preventing the enemy from backdooring (if that makes sense).

But yeah, if you want, you can base your 5 heroes on the 7 deadly sins, or the 7 holy virtues, "power rangers", elements, the 5 colors of magic, the animals from madagascar, or you make them all part of a clergy/cult.

Skyve can you tell us who the other judges are or is it a secret?

There are no other judges yet, I have not asked any of the two I have in mind so far. And yes, it's a secret. A big shiny secret that actually shouldn't be that hard to lift partways
