No and I have replied with reasons why.
The problem:
I'm sure we've all have had this problem, the countdown begins the match is about the start. You want to choose a hero and you have the skin for it, yet you don't want to reveal to your opponents which hero you are about to pick. With three seconds left, you quickly select your hero and right when you're about to choose your skin, the game lags and you spawn in pool with the regular skin.

Solution 1: Change alt avatar in-game
This has happened to me quite a few times and it's fairly frustrating not being able to select an alt avatar that you spent money on or worked hard for. My solution to this is to have an little button added in the game where you are able to quick change to the alt avatar of your choice once the game loads, similar to like how you are able to change courier skin.
Fix
Though one problem poses on changing skin in game, and it's that you can easily change to your alt avatar half way through which will confuse the team. My solution is to have the alt-avatar in-game selection only in the first 10 seconds before the creeps spawn. I don't know how hero model's load in game but if the courier is able to change skin, i'm sure the same can work with heroes.
1) The loading problem: How the loading could work is that alt avatars only load for the heroes selected in game and if the player selecting the hero has the (multiple) avatars.
Solution 2: Preset avatars in vault
This solution has been requested multiple times by various community members since this is also a possible method to prevent the simple problem of not using your alt avatar in-game. How this would work is that you would be able to preset your alt avatar in the shop vault, exactly like how you choose name colour, symbol, or icon. Simple and easy.

Which to choose?
The problem poses here, which of the two solutions would you choose? Well in my opinion, I would want S2 to follow the first solution although the second is much simpler and removes the longer in-game loading time that the first possesses. The deciding factor that the first solution (change alt avatar in-game) has over the second (preset alt avatars), is it's flexibility which from what I see, is what S2 is constantly aiming for in their game. Yes it may require a tad bit more loading as more alt avatars are released but giving players the option to change their mind is key.
Some will say that HoN will become unplayable for older computers. Well the computer I am playing HoN on is O.L.D. Four years old and I am already experiencing lag playing HoN but games cannot hold back for older computers, they've got to get better which will require better equipment to handle.

I think this would be a good idea, tbh i cant really see a reason it hasn't been implemented yet, surely the increase in loading time would be minimal even on the oldest of computers.
It doesn't have to work like that. You can make it just load the alt avatar for the heroes selected AND if the player selecting the hero has that alt avatar. That minimizes the loading. I'm pretty sure adding a formula for that isn't that difficult. Though, I never took computer science so I have no idea...

Or: You could download a mod that auto chooses an alt even if you random.
Your solution is flawed heavily by many factors. Wildsouls bear is one of them. How is going to work when you have summoned booboo and put items on it, and then decide to change it? Same with War beast and other summoners.
Another problem would be lvl 1 kongor. Enemies could get SO confused if a battle at lvl 1 against kongor happens. Suddenly that ra looks completely different, wont that be a bit difficult?
Last problem would be targetting mechanics and model changing mechanics. If you spam the alt button, the server would potentially crash if a team of 5 would do it. I dont know if this is true, but if you target a enemy with a auto attack or spell, you could potentially disjoint it with this. An example would be Myrmidons magikarp.
There are way to many problems, and honestly, i think its your own fault if you decide to right click an hero instead of just picking it in AP.
I voted yes, but I don't really like the suggestion of changing the alt during game that alredy started. I would like some option on the main menu, so you can leave there wath alts you want to be auto picked.

Oh, i thought you ment 10 sec before they spawn. Sorry about that.
Still, its pretty much your own fault if you decide not to pick a hero or get dcd. And as said, download a mod that does this for you if you are that desperate. I havent voted no, and wont vote yes neither, because it would be a waste of resources.
Not really, when you join a game you load the map before you enter the room (assume pub game) and after the countdown before the game starts, you load all character skins and everything else. It wouldn't really hurt to load just a bit more... It's nothing really but I do understand what you mean. Just incase of lag or someone wants to change their alt, keeping options open doesn't hurt.
