    Unpopular Heroes

    xanderK,

I would like to ask you, and the staff at S2, what is in the future for the more unpopular heroes like Balph, Hellbringer, Ophelia, Moraxus, and many others that are constantly at the bottom of the list? I feel that in MM there are a pool of about 40-50 heroes out of the many available that are constantly picked because of the strength or ease of use of the hero. Perhaps balancing is a main issue here for those players that only play a small pool of heroes. It's starting to make the game feel smaller and I believe it doesn't promote players to try heroes they haven't tried before because they haven't seen many players dominate with them(Purely because the absence of them in games). With the death of extra gold for randoming I have growing concerns that with more and more new players we will slowly have some of the heroes already at the bottom of the list fade out of existence. I think some of the HoN community is becoming bored with having a small variety of opponent team composition. I think one of the best things about HoN is the variety of team compositions available and enjoy seeing more and more heroes added to the pool.

So disregarding any balancing associated with the issue:
What does S2 think about unpopular heroes?
Is the fact that some heroes are far more unpopular than others even a concern of S2's, and if so, is there anything S2 is planning to do or wants to do to make those heroes more attractive?

Unpopular heroes can usually be called by a different name as well: unique.

Unique heroes tend to only appeal a certain set of players and thus their play numbers are lower than others. The more unique the hero, the smaller the number of people that want to play them. Ophelia is a great example of this. (Even though she's amazing!)
