I am really happy with your new position, it make it easier to ask question and follow up with the community.
S2 had quit a few big challenges in 2011
and I personnaly think that S2 did a great job;
-New RAP system
-Lot of issues fixed (DDOS, etc)
-New heroes (S2)
But now, I want to read about the new 2012 challenges. It would be great if you can ask about this.
Right now, from what I am reading on the forums, the major concern seems to be the balance of the game. We can see that the new 2011 heroes are different and they stand a part from the old heroes.
It is true that Monarch do the same role as Glacius but he is a lot better... that Midas is a better nuker/disabler then Pyromancer. The gap between old carry and new carry hero is also present. I personnaly still enjoy this game because I play ALL RANDOM.
We see a lot of effort for the development of heroes and tools which is really great ! Also, I understand that balancing and rework of heroes that a lot much time to do. But I think it is time for some serious patches and it is propably on the way because S2 have no other choice with the upcoming competition to make this game viable and profitable. S2 can certainly do a minor balance patch by decreasing/increasing damage/stats of some outstanding heroes before a rework patch.
So what about the new challenges in 2012 ? Can you give a post about this... It would be great to see some thought about balancing this game.
I went and talked to Brad, who is in charge of the day-to-day operation of HoN and here's what he said about 2012!
Continue to promote our competitive scene: The main focus of this will be with the upcoming HoN Tour, which will be great for all levels of competition within our game. Plus, we're exploring other options to make HoN even bigger and more noticed in eSports.
Continue to improve the experience of new players: There are several things being worked on in the office that will make starting HoN much easier. I can say that it's all quite exciting!
More new content of all kinds: Our new store manager, Ryan, is full of ideas and you should expect a huge amount of awesome stuff to show up on our store this year! Also, he's very interested in community suggestions, so head over to that forum and post your good ideas. And of course, our designers have a lot of different, unique hero ideas swirling around.
More community involvement: This is what I'm primarily focused with at S2. I think one of the most important things that I can do is make people feel more connected with HoN. I'm striving to do that while expanding our player base at the same time. Also, we loved doing the Community Event and hopefully will do another one soon!
Of course, balance goes without saying and DOGKaiser is testing a slew of different changes to be released in the coming weeks.
