    400 Silver Support Hero

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a 400 silver or lower support hero. I've already bought Flint Beastwood and Soulstealer (impulse decision), but, since the rotations don't always seem to have a good support that I can play well, I was hoping somebody could tell me which of these heroes will win me more games, assuming I play competently:

    :jera:

Note that these are only the supports that I can play somewhat well. If you think that and are just totally better than all of them, I can learn. It's just that I'm impatient, and playing supports in nostats is usually miserable.

So, yeah. I haven't decided whether I want to be a carry or support player yet, so I'd like to keep my options open. I make no pretense of being an excellent support player, but one mediocre support is better than none, which is what I seem to be ending up with in TMM lately.

    Thanks,
    EatItKnave

Grab Plague for sure, doesn't he cost under 100? (not sure, not F2P) Then you could think about another soon. And honestly, I can't remember the last time I lost with him.

As for your other possibilities, do bear in mind their auto attack ranges, it's kind of hard to get in good harass with Andro (400 range), her mana pool blows ass as well, so I'm not really a fan of her unless there's some really disgusting lane combo involved (like say, with a good Panda or Kraken)....Myrmi also has the short auto range, but he can at least afford to toss his spells out a lot more often, against trashy enough opponents he can easily get you an accidental bloodbath in early/midgame. Demented can also be a lot of fun...really, you can't go wrong with most of those you mentioned

Demented is a really nice support. she can babysit like no other lol.

Cool! Thanks guys. I'll probably get Demented and then just pick up Plague when I get the 60 silver.

Andro, Nymph and Witch are really good too. Pretty sure Andro is super cheap and Nymph is 250 I think.

If you like playing support I would get those 3 too eventually.

demented is just the king of all supports!

Witch Slayer is the most fun out of them.

/I'd avoid Andro as a newcomer. it's frustrating.

Your stats are really ****ing good.

    Are you a smurf?

OT: Why didn't you just buy the hero pack for 10 Washington's over Christmas?

Plague is a really good support that can do alot of damage.
IIRC plague is also maybe only 90 silver coins

Isn't plague like 65silver? Anyways, grab him. He's ridiculosly good, there's a reason as to why he's banned every single competitive game.
If you have someone to play with then I suggest you also grab nymph, she has one of the most underrated ulties in the game. Being able to gank anywhere on the map every time your ulti is up is extreamly good. The 3 other skills are also really solid.

Both are really cheap, so have fun

Plague is the only support hero you need , maybe grab glacius later [he is 250] , and you're set as far as support heroes go...

Assuming you're solo queuing, if you get good with support/soft support jeriziah, you'll win 85% of your games, no question. People think that heroes like pebbles, deadwood, and swiftblade are pubstompers, but jera is 10x as good of a pubstomper as them. All he needs is really one person on his team to do well, and he takes over public games.

Plague's also a solid choice, naturally, but the problem with plague (and the problem with going support in solo queue in general) is that while strong, he still relies on the majority of his team to win the game for him. As counter intuitive as that may sound, given that plague rider is essentially an aoe nuker with some buffing/healing abilities, where as jeriziah is a buffer/healer with some aoe nuking/slowing abilities, the fact of the matter is that Jeriziah is a free shrunken head for 1 of your team mates off the bat, whichever is doing best, typically, or initiating well. Secondly, jeriziah offers the strongest single target heal in the game, which means that if you are smart about your leveling, you can heal your alies for almost half health after you give them a shrunken, early game, and thirdly, he hard counters heroes that have too strong of an aoe. Plus his late game is 10x better than plague's, so really, the only place that plague cuts ahead of jeriziah is in the laning phase - which in this public metagame doesn't last for too much longer than 5 minutes - although jeriziah's still a better baby sitter than plague, imo.

Personally, i love plague, i play him in the suicide lane all the time, but when i'm solo queuing? Always jera.

Heh. Thanks. No, this is actually my first account. I did play a little with the trial accounts before the game became F2P, and I have played a few nostats, but it's not a smurf. And for your second question, I'm afraid I spent pretty much all of my budgeted free money buying presents and taking my friends out to dinner at Olive Garden over Christmas. So yeah. Maybe when I get the money over the next summer.

(I'd quote you here but I don't know how to add a second one); Headrushed:
Yeah, I was thinking about Jeraziah. He's also nice because he can dual function as a carry if you get the right farm. However, another thing I've noticed in addition to a lack of supports in low MMR TMM is large numbers of melee heroes; so if I have to babysit I'd rather play Demented than Jera. And Demented has a pretty dang good late game with his ulti, and healing wave remains a great turnaround spell until 45 minutes in or so. But I won't deny that Jera's ultimate remains one of, if not the best, teamfight ultimate in the game, especially against carries. One more point for thought is that this will be my only support for at least 6 games, and Jeraziah is reaaally easy to counter. Although he probably will be my third support if I find the silver/money for gold.

And to all of you people advocating Plague, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I just bought Demented last night, but I can already tell he's an amazing hero, so I think I'll probably get the 65 silver for Plague pretty soon. But Headrushed is right; Plague really relies a lot on your team. Demented does too, but at least with him you don't have to rely on your team watching after itself and not dying as much. And Demented has a bit more survivability, which is good for a semi-noob like me.

Meh. Sorry for the choppiness. I just got back from some classes and I'm tired.

Oh. Multi Quote. Just saw that. Oops.

Once you get Dsham under your fingers you will not lose games. He is a go-to hero for me when I want to win and probably one of my favorite pure-support heros (monarch is probably my second right now but I usually roam with her so it's a different playstyle).

Plague Rider, Demented Shaman and Glacius are generally the best three support heroes in the game right now.

All have high win % as far as I can remember.

i've played couple games with dsham, man its the only support that im actually having fun playing with
its hillarious to see enemies getting healbomb when they are trying to last hit.

Another thing of note, does not rely upon his team to be relevant actually. His team based spell is his shield and that is it. He depends upon timing and position however. A well placed ult can decimate enemy heroes until late game.

Well, I just played a couple of games, and I realized that I might have to ditch the supporting until I get 1600+. The next time I see orange/brown pick a carry mid, I'm probably just going to ragequit. I'm sorry, but I can't play with a 1/10/0 EW.

But, still, thanks for the advice everyone. I hope I won't have forgotten how to play support by the time I get some decent, regularly-playing friends.

Yeah, that's the life of us support players in the lower brackets. As much as we can contribute to warding, harassing/babysitting, stacking creeps, upgrading cour, buying Eyes, etc., it's tougher for most support heroes to totally turn things around because as well as you can play and lead a team, the lack of basic skills by the players in the lower brackets makes it extra hard (not saying I'm fantastic, but it really bothers me how often it becomes obvious at the first creep wave that the carry you're sitting is going to get 10 CSs in 10 mins despite how well you harass the opponents).

    <- most played. x)

Edit: And I really hope you do find the group of friends you can support comfortably if needed. The games where I get to support players who are more accustomed to my play and have enough practice/ability to get the most benefit from having a support are well worth the ones where things go bad. ^^

This is exactly why I get excited when I'm brown/orange
