has been a pick that has showed up a lot for me. How do people deal with her effectively besides destroying her mid and/or buying lots of wards. She's really just annoying to deal with.
Mystic vestments (should be a pickup against alot of heroes) / hp(bracers) / wards.
Make sure you don't die in 1 combo.
If you do die in 1 combo, NEVER wander around alone.

if you somehow can grab steam boots and a mystic vest and if thats not enough another bracer, but if you got the farm early on steam boots and mystic vest make you survive her till she getslike codex lvl 2
edit: furthermore, if you notice your lane enemys are unusually offensive check mid if she is missing, if so GET THE **** TO THE TOWER because she is 100% close
Ok. So if you leave a game, you are sent an AIDS needle. Additionally, you get +1 disconnect AND are forced to play as Kongor next game. You can't leave his lair, except when a rune spawns. You must run directly to the rune (still as Kongor) and guard it. If you do not do this, then HoN immediately shuts down and formats your hard drive and injects you with the AIDS needle.
Been playing quite a bit of Fayde myself.
If the opponent team is smart, they counter me early with a bound eye!

The hardest part though is convincing your allies to do the samefayde can get fat just by feeding off that one noob that refuses to buy vestments/keeps going out on his own :/
as a general rule of thumb when I play against a fayde as a support, I make it a point to never get striders, and usually op to get steamboots instead (along with vestments+power supply. This keeps you vert safe from feeding at all i until fayde hits both 11 and codex, and when fayde doesn't have anyone to feed on she becomes underwhelming pretty fast.
counterpicks for fayde are thunderbringer, tundra with bird and an eye, or EW or shadowblade etc with clearvision to see through trees to detect fayde in her ult.
but in general, Robbie pretty much said it, make sure you don't die in 1 combo, and stay with your team. If you meet both these criteria, fayde can't do anything except attempt a suicide initiation because you can just bait her out to ganking a target, she'll fail to kill and you just kill her after. If you find she's feeding off one of your teammates in particular, you can always attempt to use that person as bait and expect her to go after that teammate and then countergank her after for an easy kill.
It gets harder to counter if the fayde has some skill and gets a portal key/utility items instead of your usual codex upgrade build as thy have a lot more options to initiate/gank with, but usually you won't encounter those much, they're a rare gem
So tl;dr - vestments, and make sure you have enough hp to survive combo, and stay with your team. And don't feed her, she won't be relevant til later W a late codex and level 11, when you can deal with her anyway by just being together as a team.

setup a trap.
This works in surprising amount of cases.
Get 1 invis ward and put a bait char close the rest are to hide up the ramp. If 1 fires off stun before she does she will die. And main thing is will be carefull not to do it again.
tl;dr counter ward in paths to forest > fayde

In terms of damage, Codex does the most amount until it's about lvl 3. I usually start building my spellshards once I get codex lvl 1, or the leftover gold after building more codex lvls if the game is in danger.

Hero concepts and quick drafts.
Successful and consistent ganks on her from roamers on your team during the laning phase shuts her down long enough to get ahead in levels. From there just keep her farm down with pressuring and rune-control. Don't let her get a single rune and avoid CS when she's MIA (probably invis, which lasts for 20 seconds at level 1).
