While watching the DreamHack and NASL streams, I noticed a trend that heroes that were inspired from Dota appeared to be banned/picked more frequently. I decided to put together a stastical analysis, based on these tournaments, to show usage and win% data for each hero.
The data from the NASL matches seems to be unavailable. Fortunately I was able to parse the game files for all 47 matches as part of the DreamHack Winter 2011 tournament. The matches I used can be found here.
- If you have any further requests or questions please do not hessitate to ask.
- If I made a mistake whether or not a hero was originally a Dota port please point it out and I'll fix it immediately.
- Feel free to link to this whenever you see people complain about inherently overpowered S2 heroes.
Special thanks to BadaBing and Zed99 for providing ban data.

Oh, and for those of you who are wondering, I will try to do this for each major event. This way we can track the trends as heroes are continually added and re-balanced, and new play-styles/strategies are developed.

This is nice!
Edit: Why have the times banned colum, when you haven't entered it's values?

IIRC Magmus was most banned+picked hero with highest win percentage in DHW. But it is ok, he is from dota while Shil and MoA are broken with their impressive win percentages and total KDR because S2 metagame.
you should include how many times s2/dota heroes got banned aswell

Sent you a PM.
You really can't call the following for Dota ports:
Devourer - S2'ed heavily
Hellbringer - (wtf?)
Legio - third skill completely different
Glacius - ult is a gazillion times stronger in HoN
Magebane - far stronger in Dota (e skill)
Magmus - far stronger in HoN due to mass disjoints
Plague Rider - far stronger in Dota (both w+e a lot stronger)
Pyro - S2'ed casttimes and E-skill
Slither - stronger/different in dota (wards have 5k hp)
Swiftblade - e spell completely different (heal vs that reflect)
Torturer - far stronger in Hon (huge buffs to casttimes)
Tundra - e-skill S2'ed
Voodoo - Heal far different
Here's the bans if you don't wanna go through them, I already did it back during the week of DHW:
Some missing due to remakes.
I didn't dare post a DotA port vs. S2 comparison since ppl tend to start raging about how Torturer/Demented Shaman/Magebane etc. is a completely different heroFrom looking at it I would use the same classification though. Edit: except Hellbringer.

He/She was the most picked support @ SMM (dota1 tournament) and he is buffed in HoN. So yes; he is very strong.
An example:
Pudge has 600 range on his level 1 hook and devo even gets a free SotM when he reaches level 6.
Its just completely different heroes in terms of individual strength.
Even Voodoo having the old +5 base damage is a huge difference, as he can just rightclick you out of the lane. Back before the HoN nerf he was a top3 pick and after the nerf, he was never picked up.
I updated the charts to include bans. It is interesting that Glacius was picked 42 times with a very high win rate, yet never once banned.
Thanks to BadaBing and Zed99 for ban data.

Nobody denies that, but the roles the hero fills in your strategy, and the way its skillset interacts with the rest of the hero lineup remains fundamentally the same. A strategy running Magebane/Vooodoo/Plague will not be broken if you replace them with AM/Witch Doctor/Lich - they will do the same stuff pretty much the same way. This is not saying the strategy might not become a little bit weaker/stronger.
I respect your opinion though, and I don't think a consensus can be reached anywayPeople will have to make their own lists and run their own numbers when they disagree.
I agree that hellbringer probably shouldn't be considered a port, since its just the ultimate and nothing else. Fortunately he was banned once and never played, which makes it low priority to update. The others, while one skill may be changed and numbers tweaked, are still fundamentally equivalent to their counterparts.
Thank you, everyone, for the generally positive feedback.
