I have a question when it comes to this item as I get called a noob for buying but he has such low life that certain heros can gank me by themselves ei pebbles. My current build is to go marchers and then ruined clever. What would u change. I have been getting the staff sometimes as that helps with life. Suggestions on item build?
Since he really skyrockets after RC pickup you should go RC and then you will have Shrunken in next 5-7 minutes to help you with survival. That is just how I feel about it.
I can see Hotbl work. Shitblade does most his damage with just his "skills" anyway. Later in the game you'll have carry items when your skills matter less.
Getting solo surprise smooshed by Pebbles isn't bad, it happens to almost everyone. @_@
I agree with badSmasher. Picking up a Lifetube early in lane, your suggested option is to then just work towards that Runed Cleaver which should get you all the HP/MP regen you need for farming/fights and getting a Shrunken soon after should be enough for survivability.
I've only seen HotBL picked up on Swifts that were really struggling, but never seen it help them pick up the pace to turn things around.
Ghost marchers with RC can make your farm go to the skies.
After that you can go for mystic vestments and a 10 Str item
i think this will be enough for you to survive the early teamfights
Swift Blade is frail but he has two spells that can make him very difficult to take out when used properly. Thing is he can manage w/o HoTBL, so use that gold to rush the Runed Axe. Rushing the Runed Axe is key.
Spin = Magic Immunity
Ult = Invulnerability
(Plenty survivibility)
HotBL is an incredible item that you can safely pick up on almost every hero. If you feel the need for some extra survivability, go for it.
Ive had succes with hotbl, but dont make runed cleaver its not good on sb u can spin creeps and get like nullstone for mana.
You've got magic immunity. If you want to survive longer in fights get a lifesteal orb.
HotBL is good on every hero. Not particluarly good on swift, but if you feel like you need it in the situation you're in, yeah sure, why not.
Situnational, might be good when against enemies that have high amount of disables and silences. SB relies highly on his skills in early game, so disables and silences **** on him.
I can see HotBL working out great if you need it, but then i would maybe skip the RC and go for a shieldbreaker since its cheaper and will get you what you need earlier, you can farm jungle just as good with those items, and you will be better in teamfights.
null stone after runed axe (battlefury) if you got survival problems. You can in some circumstances grab like steam boots instead of phase. Whispering helm for an orb effect along with a shroud (after runed axe) also can be considered.
~Steven WrightA conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

I used to build Hotbl on every hero, and I still do sometimes when I don't feel like trying. It's good on almost every hero, especially melees.
Heck if you go Hotbl on SB and are successful, what do you care about other ppl opinions? People are always gonna tell you that you aren't building your hero correctly because they never saw it on Honcast, just don't listen to them and play your game.
Sure it might not be the optimal build, but who cares.
Personally, I like to helm then mock, since it synergies so well with his ult and the spin. Just get a chalice for regen, and be aggressive. Hotbl > Towers![]()
HOTBL should be considered an EXTREMELY situational pickup. As in, they have a lot of squishy gankers, you have a hard hard carry, and no heroes fat enough to initiate.
Runed axe is also NOT needed on wift, and unless you get it by ~12-14 minutes, it is a farming aid that gives no stats and little damage for its cost. Try going firebrand into shrunken or diffusal into anything really.
This is a much better idea with MADMAN, other than Stalk escape (well, dodging with Barrel Roll I guess) he's got a bit of survival issues*.... Swiftgayed has built in magic immune and that ridiculous CANT TOUCH ME ulti
Also remember Swiftblade can auto attack during spin starting at 5 (7?), that+runed = lot of AOE going on
*yes, Madman should still get Shrunken after Nullstone...increasing damage can wait a bit with him, preventing getting focused cannot
