deadwood is by far my weakest, i don't know why i feel like i get overwhelmed sometimes and dont really know whats going on or what im doing or where i should go....
i dont get how people like moonmeander can just straight stomp on people

well moonmeander knows how to get a lead, and how to take advantages out of that lead, and how not to lose it.
with fayde, deadwood, pebbles. you can easily one shot stomp bad people.
but there is just 2 ways to get around not being good with them, and that is either playing them a lot until you get better, or avoid picking those heroes and just go your best heroes.
surprised you didnt mention tundra, as I feel he is incredibly underwhelming when I play him, while he can own me hard if played by someone else.
Play dev go mid play passively till lvl 4 hook em in and rot, that is usually a bloodlust mind ensure you have vestments before you do this and you will usually have a kill, after that wander back and forth between top and bottom ganging people, I find it a he'll of alot easier then ganging with deadwood, also if there is a lane with 2 squishies tell your teammates to be prepared as you walk right in a devour them with rot on it is usually a double tap for you. Sounds easy , well it really is just get used to hooking and buy mystic vestments early as in first item or second.
I'm not the best as playing gankers myself, but I'll tell you this; Find out where they got wards (should be fairly easy to spot since you know if hes going for wards or not). First gank is crucial, since if you waste time your oponent mid is going to have a level advatage against you.
This is probably the most important point of it. And most gankers actually needs to gank to be effective.
On most mid heroes getting an early bottle and having rune control is crucial. Don't be afraid of getting a ward yourself if your team is refusing to.
i usually go 1 set of runes and hatchet on Fayde, and a ward if i need to. leaving me enough of my starting gold to almost always get a bottle before the 2:00 rune.
As much as ganking heroes are less farm oriented overall, i think the first 5 minutes are more important to maximize for gankers than anyone else. The earlier you can get your core items and appropriate level, and start effectively roaming, the better.
Oh also, if they are being particularly vigilant with their warding, couriering in a TP and porting to a sidelane can work.
I'm not by any means an amazing player but this is treating me alright in the mid-to-lower 1700s.
Don't worry about it too much.
The ganker/semi-carry role is by no means the easiest to play. In fact, I would argue it being the hardest (coming from a 1900 player). When playing a hard carry or an all-out support it is easy to know whether you need to farm or not. However, if you're a Wretched Hag or something like her it's always a difficult toss-up whether to stay farming or go ganking. Making the wrong decision will cost you.
Knowing when to do what is a skill that comes with experience. The biggest reason Moonmeander and any other high-tier player will always do a better job with gankers (and any other heroes) than you is that they know exactly when they need to be farming, ganking, pushing or TP'ing to help.
You should make sure you have wards, and try to figure out where they do! (if you walk top to gank and they go back to the tower you will know) if they know you are coming they can either hide or come after you when you are alone, or their mid can come and wait for you, all in all they will be prepared. You need the element of surprise when ganking side lanes.
It,s also about knowing which lane to gank, and when to gank. If the enemy has a carry mid you dont want him constantly freefarming and getting free lvl's, and you might want to considder getting help from a sidelane to gank mid.
