Honestly, with a Null stone I have very little mana issues at all and it adds to his tankyness. Throw a sin shroud on him, drop your W then shroud you max your move speed and have 500 lifetap on hit. I love it and its been crushing pubs all day. Really enjoy this hero in teamfights and in duels.
Null stone is practically core, I can agree with that. You can't make full use of Q until you have that much mana regen.
Skill build varies tbh. Sometimes you just can't make use of Q early, and would be better off leveling W and E first.

Usually my little brother is a ranged stunner with decent burst like glaci or monarch. We decemate the lane because of the amount of burst you can do with the your Q. Yeah you can only cast it twice but its enough.
Thats just how I build him when I have solid teammates.
Why do people do these really meh skillbuilds of multiple point in every skill before one or more are maxed?

level 5 - 2-1-2-0 skill build.
level 7 - 2-1-3-1 skill build.
level 8 - 3-1-3-1 skill build.
Just yuck. Almost as bad as these kids with 2-2-2-1 into 3-3-3-1 builds on any other hero. Commit to a skill and level it to max by 7, unless you're one of a very small number of exceptions to that rule.
Single points in skills are fine, putting 2 points in every skill is wrong.

Alright, from my experience, the best build is E/W/E/W/E/R/E/W/W/Q and so on, but that's so he can jungle.
Also, why can't he have better starting agility and armor? Why does Pesti get to start with 5 armor, and Salforis with 1? Salforis should have a base of 4 or so armor to make up for his atrocious agility.

Why should he get high base armor? He has 1 (two with ultimate) skills for healing, and his passive improves his regen...

you arent supposed to get his Q early. no mana to spam it, high cost
however, the aura and lifetap are super wtf. he craps on any melee and is super good in any lane maxing his aura and lifetap first. then the ultimate ong is a death sentence
lategame at level 25 his Q nuke gets ridiculous. it does 260 magic damage (basucally) on a 4 second cooldown, and at level 25 salf has a huge mana pool and is able to constantly spam it every fight doing more aoe damage than a pyromancer at level 25
Which is fine. Just means he's a counterpick to melee mids, but gets countered himself.

Gonna say I dislike the fact that he gets buffs after someone dies with his ult on. He's supposed to be a ganker, right? Then why give him something that basically serves more or less as a carry tool (I'll admit the benefits are rather weak, but that's not the point).
I mean the heal is fine, in case you have to dive someone under a tower, you can heal yourself up, but why the attack damage/speed increase? I'd rather have the ability be a tad bit stronger to serve his role than him getting attack buffs![]()

I've been having great success with Nome's Wisdom + Insanitarius. Nome's comes first and gives great regen and actually works well by healing you for a decent sum constantly with all of your high mana spells, and Insanitarius gives Lord Salforis a great health buffer, empowers his Life Tap, which in turn heals for a greater amount and sustains Insanitarius. His passive also lessens the effect of Insanitarius even more.
He becomes a really well rounded skirmisher. He can also use his Ult heal, Life Tap, and Insanitarius for a large burst of health.
