And the media says that the Occupation is dying lolololololol.
I thought this deserved a new thread because this is truly an unprecedented event. In New York and over 30 cities throughout the world, yesterday was a global day of action, where tens of thousands of people from all over the globe gathered to fight corporate greed and unite the 99%. Those who say this movement is dying need to wake up and realize it is growing astronomically every day.

I don't think I am, no. It is very hard to get a head count on how many people are joining the movement daily, what with the major media sources constantly slandering it and discrediting it, but even within the past couple weeks, dozens of new cities have become occupied in the U.S. and around the world.
I come from the actual movement, where I talk to people all the time who actually go to all the different cities, and see it growing for themselves.

And yet still no cohesive list of demands. Interesting. No goal, no movement.

I'm glad it's snowing here in Calgary.
Not only can I now go snowboarding in the weekends, but people who are still trying to occupy Calgary (which btw is next to dead now) can go freeze.

People shouldn't need to validate themselves to others. Report to yourself.
Everyone needs a personal sanctuary, find yours.
In all respect to Mr. King and the blacks, I don't really consider a movement successful unless the people the movement was made for exercise their freedom. Mr. King would be devastated at what has become of his people, which is, in my opinion, because the movement was too goal-oriented, and not enough about uniting his race. What good is "freedom" and equality if you don't use it?

no-one you ask that's a part of it has any idea of what the movement as a whole actually wants, it's just a bunch of useless, smelly self righteous hippies and nerds trying to find another bandwagon to jump on so they have an excuse to not do anything all day except sit around being useless smelly hippies and nerds
hope this fad ends quickly so they can find something else to not go to work/school about
Someone want to tell me wtf occupy wallstreet even is
I really have no idea.
Better to die for something than live for nothing. I am not in America, but I am glad to see people still fighting for a cause. But I think the movement should be more organized and play it smarter. Right now, I do not really see any harm to thosefatty rich ****sguys the movement wanted to see the fall of. Provoke them, make them MAD, drop G or whatever because right now those guys do not really give a ****. Pull them into the field Hat_Truck.
Choosing between the lesser of two evil, but in the end you still choose evil. Screw that, I want a third option.
If moderation is a fault, then indifference is a crime.
The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is that good men do nothing.
You bet I will. On Dec. 5th there's going to be a national march on Washington, we'll make our voices heard.

There were baton beatings at UC Berkley, a man was killed in Oakland and the photos from NYC's police raid have become iconic. Keith Olbermann has a pretty good commentary on it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=yoG9PmdGaT8.
In regards to the pepper spraying incident, I feel like there's a certain line that the police can cross that essentially obligates you to riot. Maybe violence is never beneficial to a movement, but walking up to a row of non-resisting students and spraying them directly in the face repeatedly is so beyond an appropriate response. I wish there was a way to revoke their status as law enforcement on the spot if police are clearly conducting themselves in an illegal manner. I guess this is nothing new though, the national guard fired shotguns into the crowds of protesters at Berkley during the Viet Nam war.
Hat_truck that is the most ridiculous comment i've ever seen you write, and thats saying a LOT

As a UC student of UCSC, I have to say that I am outraged by what happened in Berkeley and Davis. Infuriated.
I have researched the movement a lot, and followed it closely. But I have not yet participated. I've had a busy quarter and for the most part been unable. But seriously, **** this ****. I'm not going to be a spectator anymore.
