Down it goes!WoW Lost 800k Subscribers, down to 10.3M
Activision Blizzard latest earning call revealed that World of Warcraft lost another 800,000 subscribers last quarter, following the loss of 300k subscribers announced last quarter and 600k loss from the quarter before that. This brings us to 1.7 million subscribers lost in the last 3 quarters. Some things they made note of on the call:
- Most of the subscriptions were lost in China.
- There is normally an increase in subscriptions around December.
- The decreased profit came from all of the games in development and no launches occurring.
- There will be at least two major releases next year.
it's still waaaaaayyy waaaaaay out there at 10mil lol
well sure it is, but there's 2 major things to note:
a good portion of lost subs are lost to other MMOs, who already have loyal fans playing them, which i would wager a guess and say they are seeing an increase in subs over the last quarter, even if only by small amounts
Also we are seeing a large drop in WoW subs even BEFORE ToR and GW2 come out, what do you think will happen when they do?
That's all the people buying GW2 subs.

A game doesn't last forever, no matter how big it is. Shouldn't be surprised really, 10 mil active is still a shiteload of money, and WoW still isn't going to go away any time soon. We're going to be years and years into Titan, and all other MMOs that come out as well before WoW really starts to disappear.
ye GW2 doesnt have Subs which is why Arenanet are like the last beacon of hope for MMO's
hopefully Skyrim will tide me over waitin for the Beta
I think a lot of them are part of the "Wat?! Pandas?!" crowd.

"No king rules forever, my son."
“You promised me Scout,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
Scout replied,
“The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
Broodje take off those nostalgia goggles. They really make you look quite silly.

I didn't play vanilla, I played TBC and WotLK. I like them both. Ulduar was great, ICC was a bit dissapointing imo. Way too easy and later on they even added that silly buff. From **** I watched from Vanilla it looked great. I did play on vanilla but stopped after a while so never raided/pvp on level 60.
Cataclysm and now mists and pandaria ruined the lore imo. The warcraft 3 lore was awesome and WoW was great afterwards, but now all suddenly the maelstrom shizzle... Meh.
PvP balance for Vanilla was atrocious.
Unfortunately Season 2/Season 1 were the only decent seasons. Season 3/4 were basically LOLMELEE/DRUIDS.
Seriously. I mean I get that Pandaren(s?) were a part of WC lore, but seriously.
I get transitioning from Arthas to Deathwing. Deathwing to Pandas? Not so much.

Season 3 was good before Warglaives, admitedly that's not a very long time but I found that particular time the peak of Arena, ofcourse Season 1 and 2 were great as well.
I guess I'm biased though, because I was doing best duing Season 2-Season 3 (before glaives).
Basically everything that promotes RMP and cleave is pretty dull and skews the balance further, mostly because rogues and mages are already the most versatile classes out there, and versatility is definately power in the WoW case, it's the same in HoN really, Silhouette is one of those heroes that was so versatile and powerful that she had to be nerfed again and again.
Not that RMP should be unviable, but anything that buffs it puts it over-the-top. Warglaives also put the 2v2s out of balance simply because double rogue was silly, rogue mage was silly, rogue druid was silly, rogue priest was silly, in short; ROGUE IS ****ING SILLY.
Stats are like women in bikinis, they are interesting to look at however they don't show you everything.
always remember when our GM got glaives from first & 6th illidan kill (server was mad at our luck) then we forced him into Arena with us
guy was complete pve player, about 1 minute into the fight (3v3) he comes out and says "druid down", only for us to inform him he'd been beatin on a hunter pet
good times back in BC good times
Really? RMP didn't seem to bother me really that much. (ran RMD 3's and priest/mage or rogue/mage)
Perhaps I'm biased, but I felt as though WLD was a stronger comp in TBC (not that RMP wasn't a really a good comp.)
WotLK sucked balls though with the bullshit that was TSG and Beast Cleave. I'd take Dual Glaives over that BS any day.
back then a good rmp vs a good rmd stood little to no chance against the rmp unless you were experimenting heavily and making high risk low reward plays
