aka took you to the next level
Better last hitting. Even though I'm still a mediocre player, it's been so nice to be able to afford items quicker and showing the lane opponents who's boss with denies.
Animation canceling. (s) Very, very useful, really helps develop a on-your-toes, quick-thinking mindset.
And if I were you, I would change the "Stop" and "Hold" keybinds to nothing and set the "Cancel&Hold" keybind to S.
Understanding all the Heroes and Knowing their cooldowns. Lets you plan teamfights and react on the fly.
Knowing something like "Bubbles Take Cover has a 6 second cooldown" can be very useful when in the middle of a fight, and you have to do things on instinct.
my care cup is empty.... c(_), fill er up
knowing when your hero is useless in the team line-up
without that, you've condemned yourself to under-performing from the picks
probably best to explain by anecdote. I played Wildsoul a lot. My justification was that he was the safe pick hero to get me out of 750-850 mmr. He hit all the roles that I had read were useful to dominate for a victory:
a ranged semi carry
jungles for team xp advantage
ganker
snowballs well
strong pusher
I learned that he doesnt gank the sidelane well enough on his own, he needs the solo lane to have a stun/slow. the fail scenario would be something like this:
dev takes mid, so defiler takes solo side lane to farm up.
i hit level 3 asap (double stack easy creep camp, take the hard near base, heal boo, pull creeps if necessary)
i run in, boo in lead, defiler nukes, they see me coming and run, boo doesnt get a snare in because they are running and he doesnt get enough attacks in to proc.
i have now pushed them out the lane, which is nice, but i lost time in farm and no gank xp or gold. do that 2-3 times and i'm behind the curve instead of ahead. the dominating strat i was going for failed.
So now i only take him if there are 2 solo heroes in my team, and one has a stun (like ra, polly, etc). If there isn't i take MoA. If we need more melee i take Glad. if we have too much carry, i take bombadier.
I'm now in the 1000s from rock bottom 750. hopefully still climbing![]()
Always carry a tp, to bad I always die when I tp to a tower, My team never have one.

Hero concepts and quick drafts.
Realizing that getting angry at your teammates is useless or hoping on your teammates to be decent. It really upped my game. I never expect anything from my teamies, I see them as a punch of retards and with no expectations I don't really lose my temper and just solely focus my game. I stay alive more, too. Since if I went into risk my life with saving theirs I know they wouldn't return the favour.
Sounds cocky but works miracles.
Trying to choose a hero that promotes team synergy or counters an enemy hero. Also, picking heroes with disables.![]()
Ignore the fukken chat. No matter how hard they troll or call you or others with names. Just fukken ignore it, because if you reply them with "Stfu" or "can you just please be quiet" its just giving them the image that their trolling is worth the effort and they keep doing it. Also focusing on the chat takes away few lasthits from you and you game starts to fall apart.
Next, play like you are the only one in your team. It means that if noone else is buying wards, you buy'em. If noone is upgrading courier, you do it. If their NH is getting fed, use dust. Minor things like these can turn your game easily for your favor. Also.. do not be afraid to go back. If your team won a 5v5 fight once and kept pushing a tower.. go back after that tower is gone. There is no point staying around and getting killed by enemies, cause we all know that many players tend to stick around until they die.
In the laning phase, if your partner goes to place a ward or starts roaming around.. be more careful. Its 1v2 now in your lane and this is the part where many first bloods were spilled. If they force you to tower.. then stay there for awhile, its better than dying and the enemy creeps push there eventually.
Also as said above: Carry a TP, always.
knowing each heros mvt speed.
since i play lots of heros like valk and chipper, its realy usefull and gives you bonus in situations like chasing and using tp (weather it is worth it or not)
Map Awareness and Last Hit
And Teamwork, this is the hardest part if y doing solo MM
Accept that I was bad and opened my mind to learning from better players, by watching replays and such. This involves map awareness, last hitting, animation cancelling, knowing where to be, knowing where to farm, warding, etc.
Streams. I learned so much from streams. And I mean like everything. I learned ward placement, last hitting (especially using spells to lasthit), got a perspective on how pros decide whether or not to back when people are missing from other lanes, item builds and all kinds of ****.
